Default Which Catalytic Converters?

I installed Borla Headers and a dual Cat back exhaust system a few weeks ago. Last week I blew my factory cats. I believe that my Z is running rich because of the increased airflow causing the exhaust heat to increase (I Also have a Nismo cold air intake), which caused the break down of the cats.

So here's the question, which high flow cats should I purchase? there are crawford, random technology and kenitix racing high flow cats that I have found so far. Any idea on hp, torque gains etc.? Also, as for cams...JWT, Stillen, Nismo?

Thank you.
David

Whats the price on those cats? What is different from the $35 jobs you can get at the local Autoparts Store?

who told you that? many of us here have the same set up and even with header replace and you're the first. Back to your question, i would recommend crawford. If you want random technology, i have one USED unit. Sell for CHEAP.

They are supposed to increase air flow allowing for more hp and torque gains. The cats I am looking at are between 300 and 600 dollars for a pair.

VERY MINIMUM. Few hp gain and you can't even notice it. Don't spend too much for your HFC.

Knowing a little about cats, that is the conclusion that I came to myself. I know that excessive heat can destroy cats, and having your car run rich can create that extra heat. It isn't common, but it happens from time to time. I'm going to get the engine ballanced after installing the cams and cats. Also ECU flash probably.

Kenitix is selling high flow cats / plennum for about $650. Seems to be the best deal.

Very happy with Kinetix High Flow Catalytic Converters. Fit is excellent. One minor negative note: there are no hanger brackets.

Before you consider a upper plenum, read the Sports Z magazine plenum vs plenum-spacer tests. You may be surprised with the results.

I miss-stated my whole logic with the engine running rich thing. What it really should have said was that the engine is now probably running lean causing the extra heat. Thank you for all of your advice on this.
