Default Hmm Real Time Bay Area traffic Cams

http://www.sccgov.org/portal/site/sc...1cd105a30a429/

This is a lil scary... I'd suggest not speeding on these roads.

Wow! that's pretty crazy!

BTW...spotted a SB Z on Stevens Creek on one of the cams just now. Anyone here?

I don't think speeding tickets will be an issue with these cams since you can't really determine speed due to the quality unless it has some sort of built in detector that we're not seeing. If anything, these are good for red light runners.

Im assuming that if they have this setup, I don't think they skimped out on just video only on this system and I bet they can just issue tickets when applicable or when a bill or measure passes someday.

Shocking how clear and relatively smooth the images are for live web cams

Yeah, I don't think these cams are used for issuing tickets YET but I can definitely see them utilitizing these if (as you pointed out) a bill or measure passes through. For now, these are just traffic monitoring cameras. Still scary though.

Thanks for the link though. I'm going to utilize this now to check for traffic conditions especially during shopping seasons like xmas. LOL

CalTrans has actually proposed for the authority to be able to issue traffic citation based on these cameras. The proposal was given to the legislators, but the CHP is fighting CalTrans all the way. I really don't know what prompted CalTrans to think that they can suddenly issue citation, but if I had to guess, it must be the money.
