Clear Bra
Anyone in the Bay Area have the Clear Bra installed?
1. Hos long have you had it?
2. Do you still like it?
3. Where did you have it installed?
4. What prep work is necessary?
5. How much $$
Just bought a cover for my 03 (white) Z and want to keep it nice.
:-)

I'm getting a clearbra installed next week by Vince at Omega Tintwerks in Pleasanton. Check the sticky at the top of this forum for the "Unofficial List of Shops" in NorCal for a list of clearbra installers. After doing a little shopping around, it seems as if Vince is the cheapest and most reputable. Seems like a really cool guy as well. Note that if you just had your car or front bumper or whatever repainted, you will need to wait a month or so for the paint to "cure" before you install the clearbra. Otherwise if you take it off in the future, the paint might come right along with it. I don't believe there's any prep work necessary to installing one. All the prep work is done by the installer like removing waxes on the parts you want to clearbra.

I have one installed by Jeremy up in Santa Rosa, he's mobile so he drove to me in South San Jose. Had it on my car since new, got it in July of 04 and it still looks good. If you want to see it, I'll be at BJs on Wednesday night.
It cost around 500 installed and if I were to buy a new Z tomorrow, I would do it again, all I have to do is look at some of the owners with Zs of the same vintage with no clear bra to know I made the right choice.
All that said, if your plan is to put a new front end on it, maybe save your money for that instead.

^^^ +1 for Jeremy. He came out to my house for the clear bra install. It was the first thing that I did after I bought my car. It's been just over a year and it still looks great.
Another option, even if you are not going on the Hearst Castle run, a bunch of us will be at Starbucks on Bernal Rd., Saturday morning for the takeoff point from 7:45am to 8:15am. You can come by and check it out then if you want. For that matter, if you are up for a little run, I have a nice route planned out and you could peal off near Gilroy and head back and still have the rest of the day for whatever.
If you can't make it to that, we could meet some time after next Monday when I get back someplace in San Jose. I work Downtown and live in SSJ.

I've got one on mine. It's been on since 10/03. Also done by Jeremy (aka Krinkov, screen name). Best first investment you'd make for your car. I'll also be in SSJ this Saturday for the HC drive.

I got to give Jeremy (Krinkov) two
! He just finished installing my clear bra about 1.5 hours ago. He came to me in Fremont after I got off work, did a great job, finished quick & is a pretty nice guy.
If you are thinking of getting the clear bra, make sure you check with him.

I just got mine a week ago, from Vince at Omega Tintwerks, I wish I've gotten it sooner, a rock hit my front bumper a few months before I got the Clear Bra. I got mine tinted too, Vince did an awesome job, I hanged out his shop while he was installing the clear bra & tint. Highly recomend, he gives a discount for forum members!
