Question Need Suggestions...GF's BDay. Dinner?

Hey Guys/Gals,

My GF's bday is coming up & I need some ideas on where to take her out for a nice romantic dinner. I plan on taking her out on Friday, September 29th preferably around SF or around the Peninsula. I'm looking at something with seafood or at least w/ a variety of entrees since she doesn't eat steak, anything greasy, & no dairy. Please let me know...

Thanks!
James

Default 1/2 a suggestion...

I have heard that Crustaceans is really good. But I have not eaten there. Much to the dismay of my wife... She keeps asking to go. I am in the south bay so I can't help much more than that... Don't get to the city much.

If you want to go to a high class restaurant and you can't get reservations...such as Gary Denko, etc...let me know and I can help.

I'll also make sure they can get a custom order of In N Out #1 meal animal style.

Thanks bro but I checked their menu & I don't think she'll be able to enjoy much . She'll be limited to only a select few dishes. Me, on the other hand, can pretty much eat anything on that menu

Yeah, I've heard of that place too & also heard good reviews. Like you, I personally have never eaten there either. I'll look into that one but I heard reservations is a biatch. Thanks for the suggestion.

Alex...you got the hookups to this place?

Edit: Hmm? I just read some not so good reviews. Anyone here have personal experience at this place?

Here are the reviews:

Crustaceans is pretty good. I've been there a couple of times. It looks kind of weird from the outside but it's pretty nice inside. Don't forget the garlic noodles and some wine! Have you been to Roy's? That's another option.

Hey James. Two real good restaurants come to mind. A real nice classy "reasonable" one is Xebec. It's in the Raddison hotel in Brisbane, at the Marina. You can see it off US-101 on the Sierra Point exit. I know the waiter, and I can give him heads up if you want. The other is located on Hwy 35, south of Hwy 92 in Redwood City. It's called Bella Vista. It's high up on a hill so you overlook the bay and TWO bridges. Very, very romantic. Good luck.

BTW...the food has to be good! We both don't like places where it is extremely nice yet the food leaves you hungry aftwards & you end up at Lucky Chances for Tosilog. LOL

Keep'em coming everyone!

I also found a place called Aqua close to Union Square that had good reviews. Anyone have any experience with them? Kinda looks pricey though...

James,
It all boils down to what kind of food she would enjoy the most. Once you know, then the rest is easy. If she likes American food in the city, i would try McCormic kuletos located in Gherrardeli Square. Its a very nice place especially in the evenings. They have a wide veriety of food including seafood. Chinese, then i would recommend McArthy Ranch, the Asian side. They have plenty of Asian cuisine there. Japanese, try Ikinohana on De Anza Blvd and Stevens Creek. Very nice atmosphere and their food is top notch. Italian, Bucca De Beppo hands down...

Hey James,
Given her diet, I highly, HIGHly, HIGHLY recommend Millennium Restaurant on Geary St. in SF. http://www.millenniumrestaurant.com/ You could stay at the Savoy Hotel (now called Hotel California) which is connected to Millennium. The food there is incredible, and is all vegan, so no dairy. Even meat-eaters are delighted.

Enjoy...

Well, if for some wild reason you want to head out to the East Bay, "Luna" in Concord is an outstanding little italian place. Very small, very quiet, very traditional, and VERY good... You can get out of there for under $75 for 2 with wine and appetizers... So, not too bad.

For anyone else in the East Bay, I highly recommend it.. Located in Concord.

+1 on Roy's, my wife is a vegetarian and she loves the place. I have not been to the one in SF, we went to the one in Kauai and are planning on going to the one in Pebble Beach next time we are down there. The one we went to was elegant but not stiff.
