True coilover, would Tein consider a true coilover even if it doens't have the coils built into the shock. I have th basics..

would you guys mind if I come with my beater jetta? It has a clunking noise in the suspension as well...the stock suspension...

but it'd be nice to meet some old and some new faces.

Or would you guys just want Z's there?

Just a guess here because I've had similiar noises on previous cars and for a short while on my current car. The cheaper coilover companies use low end spherical bearings on their upper mounts. My JIC's used to knock really bad but when I upgraded to Teins they were silent. In my most recent setup, I just replaced the monoball bearings with high quality teflon lined ones and that solved the problem. Do the stock rubber upper mounts fit with the stance coilovers? If they do, try installing them and if the noise goes away, then you have found the culprit. This of course is assuming that the install was done properly.
One way to check the bearing is to take the shock off and see if there is any play in the monoball. There should be NO up and down movement at all. Even the slightest bit of play will cause a lot of noise to enter the cabin.

Good luck guys, I know these little noises can be frustrating. Isn't the vendor that you bought these from offering any support?

Come on... Everyone is welcome: 350Z, Z33 and 03 - 06 Fairlady Z.

Of course all are welcome: cars, trucks, bikes, scooters... but NO QUADS! (I have to draw the line somewhere)

Nitrouz just add yourself to the list.

Daveh, I'll double check the areas you mentioned above and see what happens.

Thanks

Oh it sounds like you have a MK4...judging from your retarded mirror description, not because you said it was a 99 model...hahhaha I'll invite one of my boys with his MK4 GTI, badass wheels haha and coilovers
