try to make them think you think outside of the box, or you're already one-sided on the case, and the other side, will select you to leave.

Act completely close-minded, like you've already made up your decision that the dude is guilty. The defense will try and dismiss you.

When they ask if u know the person who is being tried. Tell them that u have seen him around and have a friend that is his cousin on your mother-in-law side of the family. This should throw them for a whirl and both side will want to have u dismissed. Well at least thats what worked for my brother.

Shame on you guys, serving your community as a jury member is part of being a responsible citizen in a free society.

That said, it is unlikely you will be picked to sit on a trial so at most, you will loose a day of productivity, provided your day is all that productive anyway.

Go in with a coat hanger on your head, your underwear outside your pants, drool on yourself and have bad gas/B.O.

Go out and commit a felony. You'll never get called on again. Other than that, you must show extreme financial hardship to get out of it. Last time I went, I spent the entire day sitting in the jury pool reading a book and was never called into a courtroom.

Not really...it depends on the situtation, some guy from my pool said he didn't like Hispanics (the accused was Hispanic) and they sent him to civil court to do the whole thing over again. They will ask you questions when you get in there, and just think of what they don't want to hear, I think that's the best way...other than that...pretend you don't speak english lol

Last time I went, there was a pool of ~200 potential jurors. From this pool, they then selected 20 lucky people and dismissed the rest.

Those lucky people, myself included, then got to go to the courtroom (which was in the same building). They put 12 of us in the jury box and the judge then began to describe the trial that was going to take place.

After that, he spoke to each juror to get a feel for them and to see if they would be valid jurors. Those people who were deemed unfit to be a juror, like myself, were dismissed. For each dismissed juror, another person from that original group of 20 was brought up to take his/her place.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry. Chances are you won't even be picked.

Yes, they told us the charges beforehand. What ever you do don't whine to the judge about it, they don't care and have already heard every excuse anyone could possibly come up with. Just think about it this way, there are plenty of people who want to be there, even if you don't so the likelihood that you will get picked is slim. If you do get picked, it's because they felt like you would be a good juror and if you ever needed to go to court, wouldn't you want someone like yourself in the jury box?

That said, you can try to think of any reason why you could not be an impartial juror. Don't lie about it, just be honest. Lying in court is never a good thing.

another +1 for honesty. For me, they asked if I knew anyone that had committed a felony. I told them yes and was good friends with him, to this day. I was dismissed on the spot.
