Let's see:

1) Sell your YM: $7,000 - $8,000
2) Sell your Caravan: Not worth $hit
3) Sell your BMW: Worth some $hit
4) Donate your 52": Subtract $200 from selling your YM
5) Sell your body: Not worth $hit

All equals to: you might as well keep your peice of $hit TV....

I really like my Samsung LCD upstairs. I understand Samsung makes the LCD panels for Sony, the only difference is they use their own softward on the panels.

Sony looks better, but for the money, I'd go with Samsung.

Moodie, did you know that your Samsung LCD is already capable of 1080p. I just found out about my Dell LCD. Actually, all LCDs are 1080p ready, it's just that they recently introduced to Plasmas.

Really, does it need software upgrade or something? When I plug my PS3 in it, the PS3 auto detects 720P only......

hack it
there was a website where I went to to get into the sony's service menu....
I'm sure there is something similar for the samsung..

http://www.avsforum.com/

good read to potentially screw your tv...
the service menu did help me calibrate my old *** Sony rear projector and correct the sync on the pc input.

I don't think you need any software upgrade, I didn't do anything to my LCD to get 1080p. I don't know, maybe your LCD is cheap and not capable... j/k

Oh sorry for the late reply. The TV works fine. The depth is maybe around 24-30" inches.
