Default Oh, the things I miss about the Bay Area

Moved from the Bay Area to Vancouver British Columbia about a year ago and there are definitely some things I miss.

1) Zachary's pizza - Haven't found a good deep dish pizza place. The one I did find also served donair. Got nothing against donair but I sure don't want it on my pizza!

2) Mexican food - Virtually no good mexican food, at least that I could find. I've actually driven across the border to Bellingham WA just to get some chicken mole

3) Pete's Coffee - Sure there is great coffee up here, but I definitely miss something about Pete's. I was actually ordering from the US but after shipping and duties it was coming out to over $30.00 / pound.

4) Lastly, the sun. It's been cold, wet, and even snowy. Can't wait for summer.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great things about Vancouver that I love, but there are some things you just can't let go of I guess...

The cold weather and lack of sun would definitely by far bother me the most if I lived in Vancouver. It's actually been really nice lately -- perfect spring time weather almost Hang in there 'til summer!

I miss Hawaii. Bay area is too cold!

Seriously though. There is so much more to do here and probably alot more deals on car parts here rather than in Hawaii. I love the fact that I can drive up to sf whenever I feel like shopping and a nice bowl of clam chowder

I still love Blondie's, especially when they were all grimy back in the Cal J. Kidd era. Oh just thought of another, Everett & Jones BBQ in Jack London Square. Haven't found a good BBQ spot yet either Maybe Alex can help? Went to Memphis Blues but didnt; really like it.

Dem Bones is decent for ribs, it's in the Richmond near River Rock casino. It definitely isn't real Southern or Texas BBQ, think more like Tony Romas. There are a ton of great late night chinese places in Richmond to, like Golden Award or a cafe in Lansdowne mall, forgot the name. Hapa Izakaya is a good place for Japanese, a little more upscale. And you can't beat the prices on whole live Alaskan King Crab in the chinese restaurants there!

Thanks Brandon, I'll check it out. And don't get me wrong, I've found great food, especially Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese. Just haven't found some others like ribs but I'll check out the place you mentioned. I used to live a couple of blocks from Hapa Izakaya and yes they are awesome. Might be moving out to North Van, so if that happens I'll have to start all over again

You gotta go to Chicago for a real slice of deep dish. Gioradanos or Uno.

The Pittsburger at Primanti Bros (or however you spell it in Pittsburgh PA) that's some good stuff, they've got one in Ft. Lauderdale too!
