internship!
So guys summer is coming around and I need to find a job. I am a first year Mechanical Engineering major and UC Davis. I have only worked at Mervyns in the past, and part time jobs for my uncles company. I have learned C programming and CAD (autodesk inventor), and I am willing to learn anything else that i need to.
I would just like to get my head into the business. I am willing to intern for free, and i just want an experience to get me going into the real world.
So far i have contacted Dinan and I am working on my resume, to send it over to them.
I am here to ask for any advice or places you guys might know of (working with/on cars would be a super plus) that are good for me to work at during the summer.
once again it doesn't have to be paid, but getting money to mod the Z with would not hurt at all!
Thanks in advance.

I say build up some experience elsewhere first. Maybe in a machine shop, or even a local tuning store. It's good you're thinking big and applying to Dinan, and good luck with that, but being a little more realistic, apply to any engineering job you can. It's actually a little late to be applying now as well, jan and feb are when you should start.
I'm actually a 2nd year ME also, and been looking around for something better in the summer than my current job in a Machine shop. Just speaking from experience. Good luck man.
if you wanna talk more, pm me or something.

Also, talk with Professor Shaw, he's a nice guy and usually has projects laying around.

engineering is a good major, however grad school is madatory. You're still a first year so you are new to the major, it only gets worse. Your social life will go down the drain. But if you like it, stick with it. Good luck!
