I just got back from the crash site and it's pretty bad. There's shards of metal spread out all over. I found the rim embedded into the tree they crashed into. I knew the passenger, Max Harding. He graduated last year with my girlfriend from leland high school. May he rest in peace.
My deepest prayers go out to the families of the people who lost their lives last night as well as the friends and fellow students that knew them.
RIP

That area is clearly residential and 85mph is nowhere near safe, especially with all the blind corners, turns and people normally outside.

85mph in a 90 degree turn in a residential area; I think we all agree that's stupid . I only sympathize for the pedestrians, the families of the deceased and maybe somewhat for the passenger. But the driver , oh well.
All we can do is continue to be good examples of good Z drivers and thank God that this didn't involve anyone that we know.

From my understanding, this kid had history of unsafe encounters. My buddy (Adam) lives in the area and his neighbor has a C5, a middle aged brother. He said this kid tried to race him all the time and would drive recklessly around him whenever he saw him trying to incite him to street race. I went to a neighborhood bbq last week and he was telling us both about it.
Interesting how it turned out for the kid

I agree with you all that going 85 mph in a 35 mph zone is very very very dumb of him. I just got back from the memorial service they were holding for the people who died.
RIP Max Harding and Eric S
Eloh, you know Adam?

in addition to whats been said before, honestly, part of the responsiblity lies with the parents, who go him the car. This is why i will never get my future son or daughter a fast car as their first car, cause i remember when i was in HS, sometimes, you just dont know to do the right thing, and sometimes, though rare, the one time you do sometihng stupid will end up like this...
my child's first car will be a NA Volvo...
