Default anyone going to clubz track day?

Anyone else going to the clubZ track day at thunderhill on 05-27-03?

http://www.clubz.org/track/track_day_05-27-03.html

So far from the list, looks like there are 3 or 4 350z including mine. Hopefully some of you guys will come join me and see how slow I am on the track!! This is gonna be my first track day!!

moodie, John350z, failsaf3... perfect place to test out your new suspension setup and the extra contact patch provided by the te37s...

btw, I plan to head out there on the 26th just in time for the dinner and getting a room out there so I'll be all fresh and ready for some track time the next day So I welcome anyone to join me on the drive down there! It's about 2 hr drive from south bay I think...

I was planning on going but the money I was going to use is now going to a new bumper and paint Plus the fact that it's on a Tuesday. I don't think I'm going to make this one unfortunately, which sucks because I was really hoping to. I'm hoping to do the next track meet at the end of the year.

Cool Yuichi!! Hopefully we can get a few more guys to go. My bro is gonna be there with his 330. Should be lots of fun....

Besides, with all the mods I want costing $1k+, track day seem like the cheapest mod to make the car drive better (by me.... ) The car can only perform as good as the driver and I'm very far from being able to drive the car to it's potential. I'm sure I'll learn lots of new stuff!!

Unhappy Hey Dave,

Sorry I won't be able to make it! I have plans for Memorial Day weekend, and will be taking off from work from the 22nd to the 26th. Then month end is here, so it is impossible for me to take that day off! Do enjoy and take looks of pics and videos!

Talking Track Day Planning?

Hey Guys, just wondering what your plans were for the track day.

I guess they are having a school for beginningers on Monday 1-5pm. I'm not sure if I will make that but is anyone planning on driving on monday night and getting a hotel. If so let me know.

I don't want to wake up early on tuesday morning and drive down. That would suck

Can't wait, last time was fun

zya!

I probably won't make it on time for the 1-5, but I should be able to make it to the Monday night dinner. I plan on getting a room there with my bro. You're more than welcome to crash there if you want. My bro should be there earlier for the 1-5 in his bimmer. You can drive up with him for that or if you want to wait, drive up with me later in the day.

This should be fun!!

2 is better than 1!! What time are you thinking of leaving? I should be getting off a plane around noon and be ready to go probably around 2ish. I just realize that I'll be leaving from my parent's place which is in the east bay.... Let me know if you want to meet up somewhere inbetween? I guess I'll give you a call when I'm ready to go?

-------------

Everybody ready for the ClubZ Track Day? I hope so! There isn't much time
left!

After the success of the last event's car control exercises, we are doing it
again for this event. This time we decided to drop the threshold braking
exercise and do a skidpad exercise instead.

With the skidpad, we hope to teach you about understeer, oversteer, and for
the more advanced, test drifting and how to control the car if the tail
gets out from you. We will not be using the skidpad for chassis fine
tuning/testing. Because we've never done something like this before, some
of it will be played by ear. We expect people to take turns in taking
about 5 laps in one direction around the skid pad. After a few cycles of
this, we will change the direction. Before we even start we will also have
a few comments on safety and additional words on how the day will run. I
want to stress that we want to make this safe for the drivers and their
vehicles, but we are also open to suggests and new ideas. Please feel free
to contact us.

The Slalom will work similar like it did at the last event. We will set up
cones in line and run people through the cones one at a time. Before we
start the Slalom exercises, we will discuss the right and wrong ways to go
through a slalom.

Monday's car control exercises:
1:00pm-2:45pm Understeer/Oversteer discussion and Skidpad Exercises.
2:45pm-3:00pm Setup Slalom
3:00pm-5:00pm Slalom discussion and Slalom Exercises.
6:00pm Club Z Dinner (with door prizes!)

* If you arrive by 4:30pm, you can also have your car tech inspected at the
track.

All of the exercises and tech inspection will be done at the far North End
of the paddock. Just look for all the 300ZXs and 350Zs. You can use the
following map for reference:
http://www.clubz.org/track/Beginner_Instructions2.jpg

Jay Plater, Salah Uddin, and Lee Darzycki will be leading the car control
exercises. If you have ANY questions or concerns, come and talk to us. We
want to make sure everybody has a good time and learns a little about car
control at the same time.

Talking Had a great time!

Just wanted to say I had a great time looked like the 6 or 7 350Z's had a great time as well!

I counted the mileage on my speedo. I must have at least gotten 40-45 laps in, on a 3 mile course. I defenitely got better then the last time, and looked like everyone was improving their skill.

For those of you who missed out make sure you come out to the next one!! thanks to Whatever for letting me crash with them, and Shaun are you some pro driver? I heard they moved you to the B group! I bet its all about thew volk wheels and tires huh?

Maybe someone can post a link for that headonphotos to see the pictures of us going on the track!

zya!

Talking Oh yah..

I forgot to post a few things, man I'm really tired after that track day!

For those who went. Keep an eye out on www.clubz.org someone is putting together a DVD.

Here is some random photos someone from the clubz posted.

http://www.backroadsracing.com/thill/

Also if you guys find any other links to picture of the event please post them here. Especially if you have pictures of the blue daytona #15 car spinning out. So I can destroy them all, so no one knows i spun out

Hahah just kidding I'm sure it was a cool shot

I couldn't find any of our track pictures on www.headonphotos.net I guess they will post them later..

Ok enough of my blabbing!

No worries Yuichi. Those that missed out this time, have to come out next time!! I had a blast... never knew my car was so capable!! I was able to pass a e46 m3, my bros 330, and yes even the main man Yuichi himself!! ok ok, it was after he collected some extra dirt on the car So next time.....
Anyways, I think I might try to time my run next time too, but it does seem like my lap time was decreasing every run!!
For those of you that are afraid to put your car on the track?, there was even a Toyota Camary there driven by a girl!!

Overall impression, ClubZ's track day is a safe place to see what your driving skills and your car's capability are!!

I'll try to post some pics.

I'll be at the next one. Sorry I couldn't make it guys, but on the bright side I did get my Cusco sways installed yesterday:

my tire still looks fine (though a little melted )
my pads are still in good shape as well...
I'm still running the stock stuff since the day I bought my car
This car stock is a very capable track demon. Those of you that did wheel, suspension, brake mods should be able to get a even bigger grin on your face then I did all day!!

Here is some pics. Didn't get a chance to take picture of the car in motion since we were all in group A. I think I might buy the CD from headonphoto. I'll post some of those if I do get them.
