if you have been under your Z youll notice it isnt REALLY a dual exhaust... just a midpipe to a muffler with the tips coming out either side... i essentially just eliminated the muffler and ran the pipe back to dual tips... Unless you get true dual, it isnt a dual haha

And trust me, there's NOTHING under my car that I should be tinkering with. No point for me getting under there. Someday I would like to know why my exhaust sounds different than other Z's (sounds meaner), but that can wait. lol

A muffler shouldn't stop it from passing smog. Removing the cat(s) yeah, but a muffler shouldn't have any effect on smog. Yeah the Z isn't a true dual exhaust. I'll be fixing that when I get the money with a Bassani kit. I'm pretty sure that X pipe piece keeps it dual all the way (but not 100% certain). It definitely has dual pipes and mufflers all the way back from that.

Won't you fail the visual inspection part without the muffler? ****, I failed a smog once simply because the engine light was on in my Jeep. It came on the day I drove it off the lot BRAND NEW. lol

Are there any benefits to going to true dual? Like does it add mad HP?

Is your exhaust stock? Or if you bought it used maybe it's possible someone had the Nismo exhaust put on? I thought I've heard the Nismo exhaust is supposed to be similar in sound but louder than the stock exhaust. The other possibility is you have a hole somewhere in the system from some sort of damage. I had a car that started getting a rusted out hole in the factory resonator after a couple years and it changed the exhaust tone.

The tips look stock and that is all I have ever seen. It was used when I bought it so that Nismo idea could possibly it. It just seems louder. I've been right next to other Z's at stoplights and they hardly make a noise when taking off. My gf can here me down the street when I'm coming home. lol It has been the same sound since day one and there's no way I bought it with damage. I put the dealer through the ringer before I signed for the purchase. But who knows. I like it. haha

Oh, hmm I don't know about a visual inspection I just assumed they shoved the sensor up the tailpipe and if the readings come back good you pass. I'm not sure about HP differences and I'm sure a well designed single could outperform a crappy designed dual. Part of it is the sound that I'm after as well. I know the bassani kit is supposed to add like 10-12HP according to what I've seen from ZCG's dyno's. I don't know what a typical single pipe kit adds.

Take a look at the tips, I'm pretty sure the Nismo ones have "Nismo" stamped on the side.

Yup, no stamps. I'm starting to think either there's a hole somewhere, the cat fell off, or I just push my car harder than others. lol

65 exit to blue oaks, (toward lincoln) going under the bridge is way more fun, make a nice banked left, i usually take that at around 95-100mph and pass people who go same with 80 east onto 65 haha, but that one i only take around 55 or so

No doubt. That first one is herra fun. Slow right and sweeping left and out you pop right on blueoaks.

Love to make my own lane on the 80-65 ramp you mentioned below the white line. Do the same thing at Taylor exit. One of these days I will probably kill myself on that exit thought. I try to take it at freeway speeds and it is a 25MPH bend I think. Herra banked.
