Tech day: who is doing a grounding kit?
OK guys, I know Marlon (MGV156) wants to make a DIY grounding kit during our tech day at Dave's next week. I need to know if anyone else wants to do one as well. I'm going to Home Depot today to pick up all the bolt and washers need to attach them to the engine block. I'm also going to bring shrink wrap and I think both Marlon and myself will have crimpers. So if you don't yet have a grounding kit and want to make one for very little $$$ all you need to bring is:
-12'-13' of 4 gauge wire (can be picked up at a local stereo shop for under $20). Do not go less than 4 gauge wire.
-10 ring teminal connectors, preferably gold plated. They need to be big enough to connect to a 10mm bolt, so 5/16 should be good. Be sure the crimping end is big enough to fit 4 gauge wire. If you can't ind them this large- 8 gauge will work with some modifications (I found some at radio shack for about $20)
For those of you that are not sure (just in case) these are what I mean by ring terminal connector. These are not plated, but you get the idea:

If you are interested let me know so I can be sure to pick up enough bolts and washers.

I'm not much into eye candy in the engine bay, so I decided to stick w/ black 4 ga. cable and Monster Cable wire terminals to go w/ it. I checked Radio Shack for the terminals but they didn't have any. Home Depot sells a 3-pack wire terminal but it's yellow....eww.
I can also borrow an industrial crimper for the terminals from work.

Marlon- You need to find gold plated ring terminals. Check a local stereo shop- if you still can't find any let me know and I'll see if I can hunt some down- you can get me back at Dave's on Saturday.

I know he was interested in building a set, but I forgot to give him my addy for sat. Anyways, if you're him, pm or e-mail me. Sorry I fogot to get your card before you left.
