Here are some for those heading through NE Sacto. & Rosville;

-Tahoe Joe's; Roseville; Taylor Rd. & East Roseville Parkway just off I 80. Slightly upscale but great menu. One of best food for the buck places.

-Carmalita's; Roseville; Riverside Blvd about 1/2 mile off I 80. Casual; good mexican food. About $10 for lunch; $15 for dinner.

-Back 40 Texas Barbeque; Roseville; Auburn & Orlando 30 seconds off of I 80 at Riverside. Good sauce; $8-10 for lunch; $10-15 for din-din

-Subway; Roseville; Riverside & Cirby 30 seconds off I 80. I generally avoid chains like the plague but if you need some decent chow quick, Subway is hard to beat. If an old guy is at the register tell him "Hi Fred, Dennis sent me". It wont get you a dime of discount but he might smile! LOL!

Palace Korean Barbecue Buffet
1092 E El Camino Real # 1
Sunnyvale, CA 94087
Quite possibly, hands down, the best Korean buffet I've been to. You basically cook your own food on a gas oven on the center of the table, and they have a good selection of side dishes too. Can't recommend it enough really.

Bull's Head
840 Ulloa Street
San Francisco, CA 94127
My favorite burger joint down in SF. Has a good selection of homestyle-cooked restaurant burgers (a world away from BK and Maccy D's as far as quality). My favorite there is the Buffalo Burger. Same taste and looks the same as the ground beef one, but has buffalo meat that is much leaner and has a fraction of the fat content. Highly recommended.

Rutherford Bar and Grill makes Pork Ribs to die for. You do not need a knife. Just a fork to pick up the meat. Just north of Yountville and south of Saint Helena.

cbtech, appreciate the post on Z-pie. They had a store in Auburn but closed it before we could give it a go.

Here is a pic of the Brick in front of Incahoots (Plymouth) a couple weeks back.

If you like pizza, head downtown and go to Zeldas gourmet pizza. Its on 21 St., make sure to bring cash only, they dont take credit cards/ debit. It does take a while for the pizza to come, but the pizza is the best around.

Mendocino & Ft. Bragg.

Wife & I just returned from a 4 dayer on the coast. Not our first trip there by any means but thought I would add to list.

If you want to take your honey to really nice place to get her in da mood try Little River Inn or Mendocino Hotel. Bill will run around 100 bucks for two at either place. Little River has huge windows with lush gardens outside. Mendocino Hotel reminds me of a high end bordello; lots of dark wood finishes.

But here's the real deals:

-Little River Market. Has an outstanding deli plus an eating area in back overlooking the ocean. Lunch for two will run less than $20. It is located 2 miles south of Mendocino on west side of HWY 1 across from Little River Inn; little brown building with two gas pumps in front. Looks like a dive. It ain't!!

-Pattersons Pub. On Lincoln St in Mendocino. This is an Irish pub kind of place with outstanding food. My "loves to dine well & a little on the fussy side" wife thinks this place is the best. Also lots of locals hang out here; you get away from tourist crowd. $30-50 for dinner for two. Say "Hi" to the homeless guy with the big black dog with slight limp (but loves to be peted) and/or the 6'5" or so black guy with long dread locks who looks like a serial killer but is quite nice....both seem to wonder around the street in front. Buy trinkets from the Mexican American guy who wonders around in front holding a tray.

-Jenny's Giant Burgers. East side of HWY 1 at north end of Ft Bragg. Building (I use the term loosely) looks like it has been there for 75 years. Lunch for two will be less than $15 with fries. $15 assumes you can stop at one (1) Giant Burger. I can't!! A canidate for best burgers anywhere. A burger with cheese, mustard, & fried onions melts in your mouth. (I just hope it doesn't melt my aging arteries!!)

PS: If your going & need suggestions on where to stay, PM me. If your going to Mendcino, book well in advance & make sure your credit card has room. Ft Bragg motels are cheaper, easier to book.

Great Places to EAT
---------------------------------------in Nor. Cal. - (26 different towns listed)

The Blue Coyote, 1224 Oak Cir, Arnold
Good food and nice people and an eclectic atmosphere. $30 for 2 people if I remember correctly and your lady will probably think its cool. Small parking lot, but more on the street.

Alice's Restaurant, 17288 Skyline Blvd, Woodside/La Honda Alice's Restaurant outside eating
Always has fast cars and bike swarming around it. Reasonable prices and good food keeps me going back time after time. Lots of parking, but usually busy.-NOTE: This is the place the SONG is about.

Whale City Bakery Bar & Grill, Highway 1, Davenport, 831-423-9803
Their food is good and reasonable but I don't think they take credit so bring cash. Seating inside and out and lots of parking on both sides of the street.

Cameron’s Pub, 1410 Cabrillo Hwy S Half Moon Bay Camerons Resteraunt and Inn
The menu is huge and they are very accommodating to car clubs and travelers. They have lots of parking and seating inside and the prices are reasonable as well.

Incahoots in Plymouth along HWY 49. Ribs are its specialty but lots of other good dishes. Old mining town ambience. $10-$20. Tip: Rib dinner order with a full rack for $24 will feed 4 people.

Sutter Creek Palace, Sutter Creek along HWY 49. A bypass has recently gone in so need to take the biz route into town. Diverse menu; great steaks. A little more formal with table cloths. $20 and up.

Pelican's Roost, Auburn. Fish & Chips; great clam chowder. $10.

Monkey Cat, Auburn. If you want to stop off for a romantic dinner with your girl, try this place. Ain't cheap though; will cost you about $75 for two.

Ikeda's, Auburn, just off 80 1 or 2 exits east of HWY49. Great burgers and homemade pies to die for. $5 for a burger; $7+ for a pie. Eat the burger there; take the pie home.

V. Sattui Winery, St. Helena; south end of town along 29. One of my favorite roads, HWY 128, ends at 29 just south of Sattui. Cheese & deli shop and slick picnic area. $7 and up for deli sandwich.

Hot Dogger, E.St (Just off Richards), Davis. Best hot dogs in NorCali.

Peppery Gar & Grill Hwy. 108 Sonora Great food & bar.All the locals go here. All entrees are about $6-$20.Its the bar tab that gets you though!

Dave's Giant Hamburgers Fairfield, downtown/north Texas St.

Monsoon Burger in Fairfield its in the corner where North Texas turns into West Texas

La Foret...Pricey French Cuisine in New Almaden..San Jose

Sushi Zono...Best Sushi in Northern Cal...Campbell Ca. ask for chef's choice. (get their early to sit at the Sushi bar)

Breakfast Pallets Kitchen Rt side of Brunswick exit in Grass Valley

Duarte's Tavern (Crab Sandwich) 202 Stage Rd. --Turn South off Pescadero Greek Rd. at North Rd. Intersection 5 miles West on Rt. 84 From La Honda Skyline Dr.

Tahoe Joe's; Roseville; Taylor Rd. & East Roseville Parkway just off I 80. Slightly upscale but great menu. One of best food for the buck places.

Carmalita's; Roseville; Riverside Blvd about 1/2 mile off I 80. Casual; good Mexican food. About $10 for lunch; $15 for dinner.

Back 40 Texas Barbecue; Roseville; Auburn & Orlando 30 seconds off of I 80 at Riverside. Good sauce; $8-10 for lunch; $10-15 for din-din.

Bone's Road House-Gualala on Hwy 1, Northern California. If you are not intimidated by bikers, this is a great place for BBQ. Mike, the owner, bent over backwards to make our lunch stop with the club a great one. My personal favorite: the pulled pork.

Tazzina's Bistro - Main Street, Woodland, CA. Great little local bistro with some really excellent food.

Nikki's Chaat Cafe - South Lake Tahoe, west of Heidi's Restaurant in the strip mall on the main hwy. The best indian food I have ever had! Didn't know what to order, the owner asked me a few questions and brought out her suggestions. FANTASTIC! though not cheap.

TAYLOR'S AUTOMATIC REFRESHER on HWY 29 at 933 Main St. Saint Helena. No Napa Valley tour would be complete without a stop at this roadside eatery. 1950's timeless appeal, beloved for quality food that reflects the history and character of it's community. There is a large lawn covered picnic area with clean tables and shade umbrella's. This is an ideal stop for the car cruiser's. Plenty of parking and outdoor table space.

BarBer Q 3900 Bel Aire Plaza, Napa. Take the Trancas exit east from HWY 29 and go left at the first stop light into the Plaza. Drive to the back of the Bel Aired Plaza, it's near the Target store. Great early dinner or lunch place. Good summer time outside seating with heaters when needed. Bar BQ is what they do best. Or you can get the Mini Burgers, 2 to an order and you can add as many as you want for $4 each. Good wine & beer selection. Try the Macaroni and cheese! Lots of parking.

SWEETIE PIES located in the Napa River Inn Hatt Building in downtown Napa at 520 Main St. Napa. Terrific breakfast and lunch offering's. Parking is limited. You might have to park a block or two away. No big deal the area is interesting with a mix of old Napa and the new development. Worth cruising too.

TWO NINER DINER at Petaluma Municipal Airport, 601 Skyranch Rd. off East Washington St. in Petaluma. Best locally owned diner for breakfast and lunch. Inside and outside eating Really good food and service. The place is small and on weekend's it get's crowded. This is a good car club spot with plenty of parking and clean public restrooms. [U]Tables on the outside (EATING) If your feeling brave, you can book a ride on a powered Ultra-lite aircraft just a few steps from the Diner.

Teresa's Place - 1235 Jackson Gate Rd. Jackson - 209-223-1786 - Good Food & Atmosphere

Belloti's - Sutter Creek OK! Nice Place, right in down town, food was vary good they gave us are own room,19 people, all enjoyed there lunch, service and speed of food served was v.good. I had Wine, vary good pore, great value. there is a veranda on second floor that is just great, looks over the main drag it was great seeing all the people & vehicles doing their think. It is heated and you can eat , drink & smoke,if you like, maybe 40+ feet by 8' and sits around 30+ people.

SCOMA's (on Pier 47 at the Wharf) S.F.. It's my favorite. Just ask any local for direction's, it's set back off the street on a working pier and can be hard to find. Reservation's are not necessary unless it's a weekend. Try the crab louie, or the combination seafood louie, it's the best!

Palace Korean Barbecue Buffet 1092 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale
Quite possibly, the best Korean buffet I've been to. You basically cook your own food on a gas oven on the center of the table, good selection of side dishes too.
