two places i could think of when i visit down there is

in SLO
Fireside or Firestone (dont remember) they have some really good bbq sandwiches

in Pismo Beach
in my opinion one of the best tasting clam chowder since me visiting boston.

Splash Cafe.

Steak house: F. McLintocks in Shell beach
Casual dining: Firestone Grill (BBQ, Burgers, etc.) / Downtown Brewing Co.
Japanese/Sushi: Yanagi
Fine Dining (i.e. expensive): Marisol in Shell Beach / Gardens of Avila in Avila Beach
Italian: Mama's Meatball (good Italian!)
Seafood: Steamers of Pismo
