There are plenty of NASA and SCCA track days at infineon throughout the year. AAA Roadside is key. @$130 a year to get a couple hundred towing miles is way worth it. (just in case) You will have more fun at the track than you possibly can on the streets.

Agreed, and those are clubs (I believe) that charge a membership, no? There are plenty of others that you just sign-up, pay, and drive - no membership fee. One can literally drive almost any day of the week given the proximity of all our tracks. Fees vary from less than $100 at Thunderhill in the fall/winter to almost $400 at Laguna Seca on a summer weekend.

The funny thing is, I highly doubt anything in this thread will sink into the heads of the young teenagers that are buying the now affordable Zs...

If you guys cant convince me to drive out to timbuck2 to race my Z (and no I don't street race), no way are you going to convince the already broke kids...

The older Zs are so affordable now that younger and less mature people are picking them up.

That's not what he's saying. The implication is that the risk:reward as you get older just isn't there, as most people accomplish more things as they get older, so there is less incentive to take risks. Makes sense, doesn't it?

For example, if I got in big trouble street racing 10 years ago, they'd take my car and I might spend the night in jail, maybe longer depending on if/what happened, but there would be no further fallout to anyone else. Today, I'd likely lose my job, I have more items of value for someone to take by suing me, my wife would have to drop out of school, the dog would starve, you get the idea.

Racing and driving fast/speeding are not exactly the same thing. Most races go past 100mph when going straight. Your logic is full of FAIL

I can honestly say that I cant recall the last time I broke into the 100s while on the freeway let alone a surface street. I would be a hypocrite if I said I never speed. 80mph in the fast lane is the norm around here, speed limit is 65mph.

Infineon is a well run safe track. there are usually Z's there. There were only four last night, scotts300 and me along with two more. Scott was late, but I had 7-8 practice runs and could have had more.

I'm old and I still love taking my Z to the track. I'm so old the announcer at Infineon usually mentions my age, especially if I am racing a teenager.
I don't think that need for speed goes away, you just learn what it can cost you if you cause an accident because you were speeding. It can even be a felony if you are involved in an accident.

Too bad for the young girl. The 2 guys, can't say anything but I hope they learned a valuable lesson in prision, now that it's too late. What the f#%k were they thinking! The 350z are a dime a dozen, which caused the prices to drop like the housing market. You can find a good 03 Z for $12-15k Teenagers can easily afford one, working part time.

Don't street race. It's not worth going to jail.

One of my coworkers was @ BJ's in Fremont on Wednesday afternoon. I guess that is where she worked and after the funeral some of her coworkers gathered there for some drinks. I hope the justice system takes care of both of them in the worst way...

Scott, congrats on the Mod Status

^+1 truth

I'm 22, and am already feeling the effects of "getting old." Sometimes I miss the days when I was 21 and couldn't care less... lol

I am sorry and mean no disrespect, but somehow that statement seems funny as hell to me.

I used to street race... I used to have a Dodge SRT-4 WITH OVER $5000 IN MODS... car was by far not slow. I was racing another SRT when the tail end slid out from under me. No one was hurt (thank god), but I didn't learn my lesson ($18000 worth of a lesson)...

When I bought my Z I said I wont race it. I REFUSED! I still drive fast, mostly because i'm used to the unregulated Autobahn I just left in Germany. I have never broke we loose to keep up with any other vehicle on the road. I have a new reason to drive miss daisy now... My unborn son, Tavian... I'm 5.5 months prego and couldnt imagine!

Besides... Z's are just WAY to sexy not to turn heads. I see another Z and all I want to do is look at it.

As for the track... I agree we could use another... Moffett Field flight line would make a GREAT track... I think it would cause alot less issues on the road, but wouldnt STOP the street racing... People LOVE to do things that are less then legal...

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but it turns out the Nissan involved was a 350Z.

The fatal accident happened ~6 blocks from where my parents live. Their street connects to Branham Lane and they have to turn onto or cross Branham in order to go anywhere. I went to the same HS as the girl who was killed but I graduated from there 17 years ago.
