hello hello! welcome to the forum you got your z in june and over 10k miles??? just kidding, i think you and my buddy shift33 might have something in common...lol!

OOps! forgot to answer your question... as you did in the past with your other cars, i always ran mobil 1 synthetic before as well... the techs & the ones who own z's don't really recommend it, but they said after 10-11k, if you still wanted to switch... which i think you're already at the recommended mileage, so i think it's really the owner's preference. I use to work at a car shop for almost 4 years and as long as you use the recommended weight, i'm sure you'll be fine! (im gonna switch once i get there!)

We all know how much the average tech at a dealership knows Me, my mechanic, almost everyone I know and most people on this board swear by Mobil1, Amsoil, Royal Purple or similar synthetics.

You don't ever want to start with synthetic but you're fine once the you have some miles on the car. I swithced to Mobil1 at my third oil change (just about 10K).

i know what you're saying jason, but i give them SOME credit for them owning z's as well... at least the tech guys where me & shift33 go... but when it comes down to it, it goes both ways... what if throughout (or even more than half my life helping my dad) and the 3 years & 11 months of me working at a car shop, people assumed i didn't know crap, becuz i'm a girl!?!?
i just think i should give credit, where credit is due... that's all

I switched to syn around 11,000. I think unless you go FI, you should be fine with full synethic.

btw, welcome!!

I just put in blended at my first change. Anyone have opinions on the blended variety?
I figured I'd wait to #4 for Mobil 1.

Welcome!
I switched to Mobil 1 at 10M. there is a tread on this board that addresses sythetics. It goes into quite a bit of detail. I can't remember where I saw it, but a search should find it. Bottom line it says synthetics are good, but don't put it in until you have some miles on the engine as you have already been advised. Try to find that thread as it is very imformative. It also goes into oil filters. Maybe type in "synthetic". It may be in the engine section.

Went mobil 1 at 13400 miles. If anyone ever sees any coupons for mobil 1, please post. I'll just stock up cuz it does get quite expensive.

I picked up my last case from Costco in Novato, but I typically shop at the Richmond Costco since it is closer to where I live. I believe that the pricing should be relatively the same (not differing much, if any, from location to location ).
