I got caught doing 95 in a 65 but it was on the freeway. This was at about 2am in So Cal when I was driving from Vegas to the Bay. Right after that I bought a V1 and it has saved me 3 times. Worth every penny.

Show up on your court trial and ask the judge to reduce the fine and ask if you can go to traffic school. If you have time, fight it in court. If not, check this out http://www.ticketassassin.com/fight.html Here are the steps if you'd rather fight it in court:

1.) Wait until you get your courtesy notice from the mail. Pay close attention to the due date. 1 week before the due date, call the court and ask for an extension (60-day max.)

2.) show up to court on the new deadline and plead not guilty. you'll be then reassigned a new date.

3.) pray that the officer doesn't show up on the newly reassigned date. no show = case gets dropped! So far, I'm 2-0 w/ one more pending...

I have a pending ticket for speeding down the 5 (80 in a 65). My fine is $212 + and additional $32 if I want to go to traffic school. I'm sure it varies by county though.

Holy crap did I see MGV post?

You get a chance to question the officer. Ask for proof that he got you at 85 (i.e. printout of the calibrated speed) How about the driving conditions that day? Were there other cars zipping by as well or were you the only one zooming by everyone. If he shows up and the judge favors his way, you can still ask for a reduce fine and for traffic school. After that, invest $400 in a V1. So far, that's been the best investment I've put into my Z.

Jason - Go get your damn V1 too!!! Man, I thought you'd have one by now....

Bruce - Screw the Passport!!! If you're gonna spend as much on a Passport, might as well add a few more $$ to get the best out there. You can't drive on the road w/out those arrows on the V1!! I've seen mine detect 'em as far as 5 miles!!

I had my V1 on. Unfortunatley it was dusk and he paced our caravan of 8 cars. I was in the lead so I got pulled over

Passport 8500 user here and im satisfied wit it... not one ticket (cross finger) only cost me $220... so $400 is too much of a difference for arrows

To each his own

You didn't try asking for a readout? If he was pacing you, chances are, he won't show up in court if you decide to fight it. If anything, his actions might've been discriminatory because of your car. You can argue w/ the officer in court that there were 7 others doing the same speed as you and you were cited. What gives!?

It's cheaper (money and time wise) to just pay the ticket and go to traffic school than to drive 200 miles to fight a ticket in God forsaken country.

John - I offer free consultations . Just kidding, I'll share whatever knowledge I have w/ everyone on this board. I have argued w/ officers on the spot before and I'm not afraid to do it again if I get pulled over.

still trying to win the battle huh? you guys should try and look deeper into the Law Books, Codes, and pass cases for help to win your WARs...if i get into it, i might take a long time to explain

i won three so far, two for speed contest, and one for speeding...i m currently working on my defense for my fourth one right now, fine $700+ and 1 point....not giving that up w/out a fight
