Technically yes but if you strip alot of stuff off it before they get it back whos to say it didnt come off during the accident, or who is to say that it wasnt on the car prior to the accident. You could of been doing some mods to the interior (like paint) and got in the accident before you could put it back in.
Ethical, that is a question you will have to ask yourself, can you live with that. I know I could. I pay to damn much for insurance as it is, why not pad my pocket with the money from the car I bought regardless to if the insurance company totaled it.

You right i removed the hood rear lights and wheels....the head lights were gone. The body kit was gone too....it was damaged beyond repair. The parts I was able to save im gonna install on my next z. Thanks god I kept the original parts so I could put back

Yeah i agree with you it didint look that bad. My friends were like "that can be fixed" but then they said that was damage to the suspension and frame and the car would not be safe after repairs. I was suprised when insurance called me
