Default H1 Rock damage

So I was coming home a few minutes ago and a golf ball size rock fell off a truck hit my bumper, bended my license plate and hit the radiator.

Were you able to get a plate on the truck? If so, put a claim in with the company hauling the rocks.

IC is way more expensive so good thing I had it off the car. I plan to get a new radiator anyway it just sucks Hawaii has the worst roads.

Pretty much I need new rims, bumper + whole car paint job and most likely a new windshield by December.

Weak...sometime I want to give up

have you ever visited a little province across the pacific known as alberta? what we have is one season: winter. now, some people believe we have two seasons: winter and construction. i believe construction is simply part of winter.

during winter, salt and gravel pile up on the roads to deal with traction issues from the snow and ice. your car is pelted with rocks from all vehicles in front of you. the vehicles are typically large pickup trucks and suvs because people are morons and like to not only use the most petrol but like to cause as much damage as possible.

during the construction phase of winter, the pickup trucks and suvs park at the side of the road where their drivers engage much larger vehicles. these vehicles carry rocks and they will spill out over the road and will hit your car. the vehicles not carrying rocks will displace enough rocks onto the road so that when their drivers are not working, they can use their pickup trucks and suvs to hit you as in the non-construction part of winter.

the roads also need to be repaved every two years because potholes more than 6" deep are not allowed.

my only comfort is that i do not live in such an oppressive place as hawaii. i can understand why you might feeling like giving up (sometimes i feel like giving up my search for the ultimate wave myself, but i suppose one day after the next ice age, there might be an ocean nearby, so i will not lose hope entirely).

The front end of my Evo is chewed to **** because of the roads out here.

Can't say it's been hit with a rock that size though.

I've driven all over the US and by far the shear quality per mile of road is one of the worst. Mainly because they never realy fix much they just keep repairing, filling pot holes with cheap a$$ tar and gravel mix. Only towards down town will they actualy fix it right.

TX has some of the best roads. The shoulder on the highways are HUGE. almost 9 to 10 feet in most places.

I'm glad they at least did fix Kam by Home Depot... that spot sucked.

TX does have some sweet roads.

I feel bad for pretty much any nice car. There should be a way to make the state pay for it (like pothole damage). They're not taking care of the roads, and it's destroying people's paint, glass, etc.

Found this link on FH. I guess it is possible for the state to pay for pothole damages.

yeah... If you damage your car on any city, or state roads due to the road conditions, then it's claimable. My friend hit a pot hole in waialua with her Z, and one rim and brake disc was warped. She got $2200!!!!!!! For the rim, tire, and disc!!! But it took almost 3 months for the check to come in from the state.

And this is funny, because i just went to work at the Kalihi Uka fire station last night, and my Freaken Nismo Bumper got f*cked up going into there steep driveway! I told the other guys about that, and they told me it happends a lot, and many other firefighters put in claims with the city and county, and got money for there damages within weeks.

It's not as bad as a radiator, but it'll cost about the same. Try and put a claim in with the state, and don't even bring up the truck. Just say it was there and you hit it. Then WHOO HOOO..... Fluidyne baby!!! hehehe...

Try getting hit in the chest while on your motorcycle. That happend to me once. I saw it coming and just braced myself..then POW! Pulled over right away and I started tearing because it hurt so bad. It made a nice welt too and it stayed black and blue for a long time. I never followed trucks on my bike or drive the car since then. It's a good thing I wear a helmet, just because, what if. Like what if it hit my face instead?
