What would you do???

I got my shiet painted at GX Auto and the rear bumper doesn't match, I've been busy and I will be there tommorrow...

but I know cars and business, and I'm not dumb

if he got paided to buy the paint yet didn't and just used what he had and color match my silver alloy and the "K11" painted that is known to be the gray trim what do I do...

I rarely drive my car, and yesterday after getting off I forgot my gym bag. When I went out to get it I was like whoa...I can see the difference...I know I'm in Hawaii and shiet isn't that high qaulity what would you do.....plus my rear mesh isn't on crorrectly

sorry for taking this off topic

I would politely bring up your concern and see if there is anything that can be done to address the issue. The worst thing that can be done is for you to stomp on in there on top of your high horse and start giving "attitude" about your mismatching paint. Although you might see results either way the first way will yield you better results. This goes for any place honestly.

Also were did you come to the conclusion that gx auto used the paint code k11? Did they paint the whole bumper or just touch up the area? Our own cars from the factory don't even match. The bumpers are a different shade than the rest of the car. No matter how good the painter no paint will match perfectly straight out of the can. Even if you order the paint through nissan it still will not match with out blending, adding hues or tints to it straight out of the can. It will be close but not dead on. I hope this helps and don't take it as a bashing.

even using the same paint code paints aren't going to match perfectly because your old paint has already faded some from time in the sun. that's why when i had my new front bumper painted i had the paint blended into the fenders, costs extra but helps out with the paint matching.

^^ Yup that too. Blending in to panels IMO is the only way to get it dead on actually. Your eyes cant distinguish the difference after that. Yes it does cost extra because you are painting partially another panel and then that panel has to be re cleared.

Not to mention, I imagine PPW is a hard color to match... Either way, some really good advice given out here by Kamu and dj.kickz... 808_enthusiastZ, hope the whip makes it out sooner than later! Looking forward to seeing you guys and all the rides soon.

oh god yeah, i think silver shouldn't be as bad cuz i think it's only a 2 stage paint (PPW is a 3 stage). Ended up paying almost $1200 just to paint a front bumper and my rear wing, but everything's blended nicely.

PPW is a difficult color to shoot for any painter. Depending on the layers and amount of pearl the painter lays on the bumper it will actually change the tone of the white. Pretty tricky stuff. Sorry for the OT jeff. At least you will be coming out sooner than me. Can't wait to see you Toyota inspired color.

we apologize to the original thread for the contents being off topic .

we are sorry to hear your concerns through the forums and not through a phone call or in person. we spoke about the brackets at the july 4th car show and we explained the situation about the insurance co. and their policies. the bumper brackets need to be re-installed as you stated but we dont have the authority to replace it unless the insurance gives us the ok. and they will not give us the ok until we "try " to reuse the old brackets and they fail and at that time is when we are allowed to replace them. the rear brackets, which hold your mesh on your nismo bumper, is held to the bumper by double sided tape and we are letting the insurance know that it need to be put on using an adhesive and we already have the ok from insurance.

as for the color match, the bottom color was k11 and the top color was a tinted oem color. however, oem nissan/infiniti as well as all manufactures bumpers, spoilers, gas caps, handles etc does not match to the vehicle and we always ask the insurance co for blend times but they will not allow us to blend both quarter panels and the rear hatch just for a rear bumper since the factory does not match to begin with. we tint color as much as possible, but a 100% match is not possible without a blend over. i would be glad to blend the paint to the adjacent panels once the insurance companies decide to pay the shops for the work. the amount the insurance co paid is not nearly enough for us to just eat the cost and do it as a service. and please do not say "we just used what we had" because we mix our own paint, with our own mixing bank and do not just "use what we have" on our customer cars. our formula comes from a computer program not from what we think it is and we tint colors to come to the best match possible. it seems from your post that your bumper color is off to the vehicle like night and day. and i dont recall that since if it was that off, i wouldnt have released the vehicle and i dont think you would have accepted it.

if you are not satisfied with the color all that was necessary was to call us to work something out, even if it meant that we (us and the customer who is you) call the insurance co together to see what they are willing to do for the vehicle.

its difficult for us to work with the customer when we dont know there is a problem. since the color match issue was not addressed to us at the time of pick up or when you came back to pay your deductible or when you came back for the safety check plate or at the car show we did not know there was a concern. please if there is a concern you should address the shop first no matter what shop it is and if they are not willing to help you then ask around for suggestions. most shops are willing to work with customers to come to a solution. we have never turned our backs on a customer and told them to pi$$off and we dont ever plan to. just call us to make the proper arrangements. thank you

As already mentioned, GX Auto imo is the best shop to go to when it comes to paint and body work, since my car has been in there they have done everything they can in my favor. From what I have seen, Mike and the gang over at GX Auto are perfectionists, and go above and beyond to meet customer satisfaction, and provide show quality work.

What sucks is that because your car was repaired through insurance, you have cost restrictions. (I am going through the same issue right now with the insurance) Im sure if you take your car over to the shop and express your concerns with the color match with Mike as well as the insurance company your using, they can prob work something out in your favor.

As you all know, I have spoken positively on behalf of Mike and his crew many times over at GX Auto, simply because I can personally vouch for the outstanding work that they have performed on many occassions, not only on my cars, but to many of ours within the group... And it just doesn't stop there because I personally know many other enthusiasts within the island that wouldn't take their ride anywhere else simply because of the quality they put out. They have a great reputation for a reason and simply because they DO NOT TAKE SHORTCUTS, hence why my baby is sitting in Mikes bay right now... And I have to be one of the pickiest son of a bishes out there. Mike has to be one of the most personable guys I know and has always went above and beyond to help me out even if it meant taking a loss of money or time on his end, not to mention providing advise based on his vast experiences, to improve the quality and build of my ride. I can respect and appreciate that... And I know cars and business, and I ain't dumb either.

Mike, way to put it out there the way it is supposed to be done, as you have clearly stated. I wouldn't have expected anything different coming from you, as far as taking care of the customer and puting them first... That is, if given the opportunity to do so first before you get blasted with some bullshiet. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to that phone call soon.

EDIT: Sorry 808 for jacking your thread as well Bro, but I felt strongly bout' this one and had to let it out... I hope the ride comes out soon enough Bro, and looking forward to seeing it again in person here in the near future at one of the upcoming outings.

Sorry for going off topic. I have called the shop did not catch you on several occasion Mike. I even drove there once and you were not there. Your a busy person, and I know that. I have a crazy work schedule so it is hard to get to pearl. I am not mad or anything at all. Trust me I am not that guy so I will try to catch you.
