If you do, fair warning, I'm your new neighbor. But lucky for you, only part time. Heh heh.

Our latest purchase, 1/2 mile from our existing place in Lahaina, HI. We get the keys tomorrow!!

nice! Housing over there is pretty expensive isn't it? I went to Waikiki over Christmas for the first time ever, I've never missed an actual location before that, HI is so nice and even tho I don't do much on the water I'm perfectly happy just sitting there an listening to the ocean.

Well, "expensive" is relative and dependent upon point of comparison. I know that's obvious but..... our take on the price of the house is "Holy sh**ski, that's a lot of house for cheap!" That's because our relative comparison point is in relation to Silicon Valley, CA where a million bucks buys a studio condo. If that. Friends in different areas outside CA are aghast at the price we pay for San Jose in comparison to what they paid for their houses; about a quarter the price of ours for a house twice as big as ours.

So, what we paid here in Maui isn't that much for a brand new house in one of the most desired areas on Maui. Oh, and ownership is split between three families (me/wife, wife's sis/husband and bro-in-law - all of our family essentially) so the monthly is easily manageable, coming out of a central source that we've funded to pay the mortgage for many years. We made the decision to buy in 24 hours from time we first saw the house. Offer/acceptance in another 24 hours. Then there were two offers after ours was accepted. (No clue why it suddenly got hot.... it's been on market for four months. We got lucky!)

I will be spending a lot more time here on island working virtually as well as starting up a couple of new businesses. My tan is gonna be great!

Oh, and "Z relevant", now that we have real garage, we're waiting for our pre-ordered 400Z (or "Nissan Z", if you believe the rumors about the name).

Laff..... not. Getting a 3-way-shared-ownership dual cab truck so nieces can load their surfboards. Not kidding. My sis-in-law (who's here with me now to finish closing on the house) saw a Honda Ridgeline with a rack and said, "Let's go buy one." She was serious.

Me: "Uhhhhh, no, you know me, I have to go research and over analyze before I pull the trigger on anything over five dollars."

MY big issue to deal with is getting my bike(s) over here so I don't need to rent every time I come over.

That's awesome, I'm from Chicago so when I said expensive it was relative to here, I know housing here isn't crazy like CA, but on average HI was about 10-15% more than here. Houses I saw outside of Waikiki weren't that bad but the price of a condo in Waikiki is crazy high. I get why though, and of course it was my favorite place on the island lol.

Nevermind that crew cab - I think you'd feel more at home with one of these to fit your lifestyle

Congrats on the new crib!
