i love my Sony H1. i have taken very good night and low light shots and have only begun to explore its capabilities. as for the memory card... its great for me, my vaio laptop has a built in card reader.

it was between the canon s2 and the sony h1 for me, and the ease of use and very large lcd screen that sold me.

It sounds even better for Sony... After buying all their overpriced stuff you're locked into buying their overpriced memory cards, too.

My sony uses compact flash, microdrive or memory sticks. However, most Sonys only use the memory stick. I like prefer meory sticks because of their size, but SDs are even smaller unless you compare them to memory stick duos (what the PSP uses).

I know what one of the posters was saying about Sony trying to lock you in to their products esp. with in the case of the memory stick. I also own a number of Sony products, but they are all unlreated to one another (PSP, PS2, cybershot, Vaio). I actually bought the PS2 and PSP, at the time, there really wasn't anything that could compare to them. I ended up with a Vaio only because it was a close out model and was much cheaper than a comparable Dell or Compaq I was looking at.

I haven't had a Sony product break down on me. I vote for Sony's cybershot lineup for the "perfect" point and shoot camera. Now for semi-pro camera, CANON 20D it is.

I dont think anyone else does better in-depth reviews than anandtech for digital cameras. Every bit of photography aspect is taken into account.

I have what used to be the top Sony camera, the 8MP DSC-F828. They recently replaced it with the DSC-R1 which is 10MP. I think it actually takes slightly better pictures, but I like the look, feel and usability of mine better. I'll find some of the pix I've taken and post some scaled down versions in this thread.

I think if I had to pick a high MP camera, I'd have to look at the new 9MP Fujifilm Finepix.

I also rely on dpreviews for my photo reviews and user opinions.

I just remembered, I put some photos on yahoo. You can check them out here:
http://photos.yahoo.com/kpiskin.

They are a little small, so you can't see the detail. But you get the idea.

Sorry, but I don't think you would believe that if you tried the competition in the camera world.

I got a Sony computer a few years ago because it was $1400 and came with a wacom pressure sensitive LCD screen for drawing. But the computer was sheer crap. At 1 GHz it performed worse than my older 500 MHz computer and it had Windows Me. I couldn't upgrade the OS and still use the screen. I couldn't even take the case off to upgrade anything. And the network never quite worked right so I had no easy way of moving stuff from it to my real computer. Then the screen finally died anyway so it was a pretty big waste. Plus I've heard tons of complaints about their laptops which are as overpriced as their cameras and memory sticks. Vaio = Suck

I wouldn't be using this Vaio if it hadn't been deeply discounted at the Exchange. It was retailing for a ridiculous $2600 (typical Sony), when the competition was charging just under 2 grand for the same specs. I ended up getting it for about $1600 cause the store wasn't selling them and it was their last one.

I agree, nice photos. Your statement above can work for point & shoots. But not quite so for SLRs

I'm just trying to be humble. I get lots of flattering compliments. I've had a few people tell me I should sell some of them. Those are just a sampling of what I have, I don't just shoot floral shots. But I like taking them due to the vibrance in color. All I know is I enjoy doing it and it relaxes me, that's good enough for me.

The DSC-F828 is not really a DSLR, but it is close. I typically shoot with my own manual settings.

Yeah, I don't get it. I've built some pretty near top of the line PCs with parts that are already marked up for retail sale, and I've never spent over $800. And all these computer companies routinely sell slower machines for 1-2k. It really makes me wonder when I buy something like a digital camera how much of it is profit.

If you are into DSLR camera, canon 20D is the best value right now.

my last two cameras were nikon and canon. i still have the nikon but i never use it. its older now, its only a 3.2mp p&s. but i love my H1. takes great pics and i paid 420 for it when it first came out. about 70-100 cheaper than the s2 was.

my vaio is new and was marked down to 1100 from 1900 (i bought it at a base store - so no tax either).... the competition was all about the same or slightly higher. (and i have owned other laptops too so there is no need to say "if you tried the competetion you wouldnt like it")

there is no need to act like your opinion is right... its just that... an opinion. i never said the products i own are superior... but i love them (even after owning others). they have treated me very well so far, so i have no reason to complain.
