Default Problem shooting in RAW

When I first got my camera I was only shooting in JPEG since I had no knowledge of RAW and then a friend showed me how to change it and it was working fine. Then I choose to shoot in RAW only and changed it in my T1i but it took too long to convert all my pics to JPEG from DPP. Now I want to go back to shooting RAW+JPEG but when I take the pics and upload them to my computer it's showing both pics as JPEG. Am I missing something here?

Cliffs: Started shooting in JPEG then converted to RAW+JPEG then to RAW only then trying to go back to RAW+JPEG but both pics come out JPEG when I upload it to my computer.

You need the software that came with your camera to separate the two images.

At first I thought this was it but I have DPP installed and I also was able to work with RAW images before when it was originally RAW+JPEG it would show the # of the shot in RAW and the # of the shot in JPEG. One was significantly bigger than the other too. The JPEG is still showing a huge file so I'm wondering if it is RAW but it's just showing as a JPEG if that makes sense.. Wow that's confusing, sorry..
