I have a Canon Powershot G3. By far, the most versatile, easiest-to-use camera I've ever seen.

I asked the same question before I bought my G3, and everyone thought it was a great choice. It's flexible enough for the "pro-sumer" that wants to eventually do more than point and shoot, but it's still got functionality that allows for the P&S people, too.

I have a Sony DSC-P5 and love it, looking into getting te P10 next. I like that is pretty small, and IMO has lots of features. THe canon ones my friends have just don't impress me that much.

site that I found extremely helpful for me was
http://www.imaging-resource.com/WB/WB.HTM

it has REAL TEST results and REAL LIFE in-depth reviews by professional. It also has ready answers for any kind of buyer.

Most of other consumer reviews I saw are helplessly amateur and doesnt' go farther than description of design.

There is HUGE difference in quality of pictures.
http://www.imaging-resource.com/WB/WB.HTM has in-depth comparisons and reviews. You can ACTUALLY see sample pictures from every camera in every situation.

Mostly manufacturers charge for design and useless features which looks attractive to customers. Almoust always you can find 2-3 times cheaper camera with the same megapixels and better quality than more expensive, stylish cameras.

I finally bought Canon A300 for my mother. I needed something simple and good. It's 3megapixel for $160. Quality of pictures beats competition, and the price is ridiculously low at the same time

I don't remember which one, but I've been buying from both places and they are as fast and reliable, as I expected from reviews.

Be careful where you buy. Most places with cheap prices will make you regret you visited them.

Well I went ahead and took the plung. I bought a Fuji finepix S5000. I really liked the way it felt in my hand. It's 3.1 megapixel and was about 400 bucks.

Thanks again for all the help.

My camera is starting to take terrible pics indoors, and all pics are looking grainy. (I have a Sony DSC-P5 )I dropped it about two weeks ago and thats when my problems started. I looked at the Canon S45 and A80, and the Sony DSC-P10 but can't really decide which one I like the best. I have a 5 yr warranty at Circuit City on mine and will be taking it in soon, so hopefully they will replace it for me.

I have a JVC GRDVP3 digital cam w/dv video. Nice camera but the digital still pics sucks (680,000 pixels = ? megapixels) but I have a Sony DSCP92 on my Xmas list. It has a 5 megapixel setup.
comments?

That's a great camera based on all the reviews I've read, and so was the older A70. Happy Birthday.

THANK YOU!.....My brother is a computer engineer for Motorola outside of Chicago so I figured he would know his stuff.
Wish I knew how to use the thing to its full potential. It is my first "nice" camera.
I usually use the disposable ones. When it comes to cameras Im a little
