Ducati 696 & Ferrari 599 GTO Photoshoot - 8/28/11
many people who follow my picture threads know that i've been working on setting up a shoot of this 599 GTO for some time. my friend that works for the owner was finally able to line it up, unfortunately bittersweet though since the reason the car made it out to the airport for us to shoot it was so it could be picked up by a car carrier and taken down to Atlanta to be sold at the dealership there. since i was coming out to shoot the car, my friend invited one of his friends as well so i could take some pics of his 696 Monster before we worked on the ferrari. this was my first time shooting a bike so i made some mistakes that i won't again (most of them didn't make it past the raw stage). my friend kyle joined me to get some of his own shots as well. regardless, i was happy with how they came out overall...

thanks! it's a long story. there's some events that involve the car (not damage or anything really doing to do with the car itself, more stuff that happened around it) that makes the owner want to sell it. sorry if that's vague but i don't really want to talk about it, it wasn't anything illegal, it just involved a family member's death. plus, he bought this for sticker price ($441k), most are selling for north of $500k so it's a pretty good investment...

Wow! pics 4 and 5 are awesome. I need to figure out how to use lighting. With the back-lit subject and dark paint, those extra lights you are using really make it work. I'd love to get more info on your lighting setup.
Also on your interior shots, (like 7) and engine shots (like 8), you do an amazing job of capturing texture in the black plastic and red valve covers.
Are you using strobes or are these lights on constantly? Do you still use a polarizer
I don' know anything about fill lighting.
As a hobby, I have been writing car review articles and I do photo shoots for CarReview dot com. I'd love to know how to take my pictures to the next level. I only use natural lighting thus far.
Feel free to look at and critique any of my photos...
(More on my Smugmug site http://pixelart.smugmug.com/CarReview, but here are a few of my pedestrian samples)
