GT Motorsports: 5A/T to 6M/T Conversion *PICS!*
For tracking your Z you're definitely right about the switch to a 6mt...The best guestimation for drivetrain loss between the auto and manual is 5%.Best of luck with your "NEW CAR".What clutch and flywheel did you go with..twin or triple disc?
Yep, triple disk ATS... didn't want to worry about switching clutches later!
GTM-spec Exedy wasn't out yet at that time, otherwise i would go with that. Now THAT is a really nice clutch!

I know, it is a bit much. But i think the parts price in this case included my used ATS triple disk carbon that I got for $1200...i might be wrong though.
This is a viable option for those that are really deep into their conversion project. It's good to know that there is a shop out there that can do this kind of modification with seamless integration, which is what Sam did. Really clean work.
In my case, to take everything off the car, purchase a 6MT, and then put everything back on, taking into account the loss in sales tax as well, and all labor work, would cost $12-14 thousand, and you get lose your car, which possesses a sentimental value as well. Not to mention, the logistics of it...you would have to purchase the new 6MT first, bring both to the shop and start swapping parts. That's a hassle, not to mention then trying to sell the car, a 5AT that has a MUCH poorer resale value.
plus, apples for apples comparison...the mod involves purchasing a good FI-capable clutch (in my case)...something that 6MT guys would have to do anyway, so that has to be considered as well.

I didn't ditch them...that's the kit that i have on. If oyu asking because of the 3.5" APS test pipes, they bolt right onto the PE1420's!
OK, I finally feel like the 350z / G35 tuning community has reached the next level.
Great work GTM..... I'm a little amazed but come to think of it, nothing that you guys put out really amazes me anymore
I guess that's what happens when you consistently put out really great work
