Default Headin down to the Memphis/E. Arkansas Area

Will be heading down there to that area from Denver with my Z around the 26th-30th of this month.

Any big events or meets upcoming that I may partake in?
Any great areas for a nice drive with some twisties?
Anywhere I shouldn't miss?

Anyone who wants to chime in with some ideas would be great. Let me know.

Not a lot of great roads here unless you want to go wide open around the I-240 loop. But there is a quater-mile drag strip in Millington @ the Memphis Motorsports Park (20 minutes north of Memphis). Everything Thursday night they have open testing. $5 to watch, $15 to race.

Also, don't miss out on the BBQ. Head to a place called the BBQ Shop. It's in Midtown. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the tips. I am actually going to be in some little town my grandparents live in Arkansas called Cherokee Village.......not sure if you have heard of it or not.

I will be coming into Memphis before that though from the St. Louis area and staying there for a few nights before making my way over to the grandparents house for a few days. Wife wants to see Graceland, not sure what else we are going to do there yet. BBQ is on the agenda since I am real big into BBQ myself and also going to be downing some beers as well at some brewpubs. Bosco's is one of them.

Anything else you can suggest?

Never heard of it. I've only been around these parts for almost 2 years and I don't find myself in Arkansas all that much.

Bosco's is a good bar. Blue Monkey is fun too. It's right down the street from Bosco's. You can get a strange mix of people sometimes. Anywhere from bikers to hippies to college kids will show up and they have good music once in a while.

If you head downtown, you can always hit up Beale St. Patty O's is good as well as Alfreds if you and the wife like some dancing. IMO the best bar downtown is the Flying Saucer. It's laid back with over 100 beers on tap. It's on the corner of Second St. and Peabody.

If you have some time, go to Ernestine and Hazel's. It's on Main St. in the south part of downtown. I don't know if you've heard of it. It's been in movies like 21 grams and Elizabethtown. Go there late night. Order a soul burger...good stuff. It's the perfect drunk, end-of-the-night food.

Hope this helps...have a good time.

It does help, and thank you for the tips everyone. I will be staying at the Peabody Hotel downtown, so I guess we will be kinda close to some of the things you have mentioned. I hope it's an OK hotel. All I read on Trip Advisor is that the place is overpriced and sucks, kinda worried now.

I just know thats it's a town, not sure if it's in Hardy or not. I know it's real small.

Not into any kind of street racing as I do drag race out here at Bandimere speedway regularly. Not much of a street racing advocate. I will certainly try some of the places you all have suggested though. Thank you so much.

Kick ***, I'm in Blytheville, AR. Going to have my GReddy TT Z down here in September and was looking for a 1/4 mile track. Hopefully won't burn my clutch or blow up my drive train but I'll probably get about 450-500 RWHP on the dyno when my car is finished.
