Greetings, ZDayZ fans! Lots going on in the ZDayZ world so let’s get right to it…

ZDayZ T-Shirt Price Change
There have been some changes regarding this year’s ZDayZ t-shirts. This will not alter what ZDayZ attendees are ordering, only how we go about providing them. We have done some research and found another supplier for our shirts which we believe will ultimately be a better choice moving forward. The bonus for ZDayZ attendees is the event shirts will actually be a little less expensive than originally planned. We don’t know the new price yet, but probably in the range of $1.50 - $2.50 cheaper than originally advertised.

What does this change for ZDayZ attendees? Nothing. For now, as you pre-register, continue to pre-order and pay for your shirts just as you would if nothing had changed. By pre-ordering your tees, you will still get a better price than you would buying the shirts onsite at ZDayZ. When we finalize the cost with our new supplier, we will decide the price change for the shirts. Whatever this amount is will be reimbursed to pre-order customers for each shirt ordered as they check in at ZDayZ. Shirts sold onsite will be sold at the appropriate new prices (which will be slightly higher than the final pre-order price paid).

Finally, we want to mention we will have some additional items only available for onsite purchase this year. These include a second ZDayZ t-shirt and women’s tank tops! There will be more information on new ZDayZ products in an upcoming newsletter.

ZDayZ Car Show Entrant Prize – Pint Glasses!
Haven’t entered the car show yet? Not sure your car can compete? Well, what are you waiting for?! The car show is more than just an attempt to take home a trophy. It is a great excuse for some downtime from the Dragon to talk to your fellow Z-enthusiasts.

Oh, and did I mention, like last year we will have some unique ZDayZ giveaways available only to Car Show entrants. This year we’ll have some killer ZDayZ pint glasses donated by ZDayZ Sponsor 350Z-Tech.com. The glasses will be similar to the <insert your favorite beer name here> glasses you can find at your local bar. Only, instead of a beer brand name, the glass will have the ZDayZ logo on one side and 350Z-Tech.com logo on the other side. Images will be in black and platinum as shown…

Sponsor Prize Preview!
Don’t forget… we have a lot of great sponsors for ZDayZ this year. In order to win any of the sponsor donated prizes, you must be a registered ZDayZ attendee or guest. So, be sure to get your pre-registration form in soon. It can be downloaded from the ZDayZ website, www.zdayzevents.com. Here are just a few of the great prizes we’ll be giving away this year:
  • Hotchkis TVS suspension upgrade kit
  • Set of 4 BFGoodrich g-Force KDW or KDW2 tires
  • Crawford Headers
  • Stillen sway bars
  • Innovative Wideband Gauge
  • Craftsman Tools

… and much, much more. We’ll publish a more detailed list closer to ZDayZ.

Activity Spotlight – ZDayZ Welcome Dinner
A ZDayZ Tradition!!! To kick off our event, we will again hold a welcome dinner on Friday night. Exact time has not been set, but expect the dinner to start around 6:00-6:30pm on Friday. This meal is included as part of your ZDayZ general registration. The dinner is a great opportunity for you to meet your fellow ZDayZ attendees and to organize some drives before the Car Show on Saturday.

To close out the meal, we’ll again have an outrageous shirt contest. We had some really wild looking garb last year and those who sported the best of the worst walked away with some nice ZDayZ door prizes. So, bring your loudest, gaudiest, most attention grabbing shirt and wear it to the dinner Friday night (NOTE: the point of this contest is to have fun. Feel free to wear the most obnoxious shirt you can find, but please draw the line at anything others may consider particularly offense. Lewd, derogatory, or otherwise vulgar shirts will not be selected for prize contention). Maybe you’ll walk away with something nice for your effort. Just remember, you’re going to have to work hard to beat last year’s 1st place winner…

Activity Spotlight – Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament
Following the Welcome Dinner and Outrageous Shirt Contest on Friday night, we’ll be holding our second ZDayZ Texas Hold’em Tournament. There is no entry fee to participate. All you need to do is sign up to play when you check into ZDayZ. The tournament will consist of a qualifier round, then a finals round, and last approximately 3 hours. Up to 60 participants will play for a chance to win some of our great sponsor donated prizes. All house rules will be explained just prior to the start of the tournament.

This month ZDayZ is spotlighting partner sponsor Hotchkis Tuning! Hotchkis has been performance tuning suspension products for years. Their line of products covers a wide range of vehicles including our beloved Z-cars. Hotchkis will be onsite at ZDayZ this year conducting a tech session and showing off some of their shop vehicles. They also have donated some great 5th Gen prizes which will be given out over the course of ZDayZ weekend. Get more information at www.hotchkistuning.com.

That’s all for now. More news in a few weeks…

Default Other events?

I noticed on the "dragon's" website, that there are several events that are planned that same weekend &/or finish-up that weekend. Wonder how jammed up it will be ? We might have to fight for "dragon" time?

Not much we can do about that. We set our dates a year in advance and its always the same weekend (prior to Memorial Day) each year.

Sooner or later the other groups will figure out this is a bad weekend for them to plan to be there. Really, no matter what weekend you pick, there are always other small groups at the Dragon.

Default Video Camera Mounts?

I tried the mods-video forum, no response. I saw several cars last year, on "The Dragon", that had some sort of suction cup video mounts on them...for a windshield mount or rear hatch glass mount? Does anyone know where I can buy such a beast? Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks ( cya-on-the-dragon )

Might be similar. Looks like it's made for automotive videos.

Did SUCTION CUP CAMERA MOUNT search on Google.

Official Newsletter of ZDayZ 2006
April 11, 2006

ZDayZ approaches! But even sooner is the deadline for filing your income taxes. So, if you haven’t done so yet, hurry and do it so you will have your tax return in time for ZDayZ. Here comes the latest information on this year’s event.

ZDayZ Activity Schedule!!!
We are still working on finalizing our ZDayZ activities for 2006. A summary schedule is provided below. This is a tentative schedule and subject to last minute changes, but we are reasonably sure all these items will be included. The most likely changes, if we have any, will be in scheduled time or day for a specific activity. Later this week, we will post more information on each activity on the ZDayZ website under the ActivitieZ link.

Fontana Village Improvements
About a week ago, I visited Fontana Village to cover some planning points with FVR staff. Since our last event, the FVR folks have been very busy making upgrades to their facilities. For those who only visit Fontana Village during ZDayZ, you’ll probably notice many differences from last year. Some of these upgrades will still be going on during ZDayZ, but Fontana Village expects to have most of them finished prior to our arrival. It appears they are going to great lengths to accommodate enthusiast groups like ours and make our stay as comfortable as possible.

NOTE! One of the improvements which will not be finished this year is a conversion of the old Fontana Village Check-in facility to a conference center. Those attending ZDayZ this year will need to check-in to their rooms at the Lodge main lobby. This is the same building where we had our dinners last year.

Activity Spotlight – Detailing with DrBonz

He’s back again! The renowned DrBonz returns for the third year to provide a clinic on cleaning and detailing your Z. DrBonz’s 350Z has become an icon of detailing potential. Why? Because his Z is a shining (literally!) example of what can be done with a little caring effort and good detailing products. The very surface of his car is so visually brilliant, it warps the space-time continuum. Don’t believe me? Just check out his detailing session… an hour will disappear in what feels like just a few minutes! Seriously, though, this session is a great opportunity for both new and experienced detailers to learn some new tricks and ask a certified detailing nut and Z-lover how to get the most out of detailing your own Z.

Activity Spotlight – ZDayZ Scavenger Hunt
A new activity for ZDayZ 2006! The Scavenger Hunt will run from the time you arrive until ZDayZ ends on Sunday. The ZDayZ staff is hard at work developing a devious list of items for ZDayZ attendees to look for while they are out and about. Some will be on site at Fontana Village, others will be offsite around the dragon and throughout Graham county. Some will be easy to spot and others will be more challenging.

When you check in for ZDayZ, we will give you the Scavenger Hunt list. For the rest of the weekend, it will be up to you to capture images of as many items as possible. (NOTE! You will need a digital camera for this activity!). On Sunday, as ZDayZ is ending, you will bring your camera or downloaded images to ZDayZ check-in to have your pictures verified. ZDayZ prizes will be given based on how many items you actually photograph. The more things you find, the better the prizes you can win. The idea is to have fun and allow folks to experience more of ZDayZ and the area surrounding Fontana Village. The lowest level prize will be our 2006 ZDayZ keychain shown here.

This week ZDayZ is spotlighting partner sponsor Crawford Z Car Service! Doug Stewart and the gang at Crawford Z Car have been providing performance Z car products and service for 25 years and show no signs of slowing down now. Check them out at www.crawfordzcar.com for their latest 350Z & G35 offerings. And be sure to look for the Crawford crew onsite at ZDayZ.

ZDayZ Registration Deadline!!!
Finally, we just want to remind you that the ZDayZ pre-registration deadline is less than two weeks away. All early registrations must be received no later than Friday, April 21st . We will continue to accept registrations after this date, but all charges will be the same as onsite ZDayZ pricing. If you submit your form after this date but do not include the full price amount, you will be expected to provide the difference when you check in at ZDayZ.

Also, if your plans change and you cannot make it to ZDayZ, you can get a full refund of your registration amount (minus any PayPal fees we incur if you pay electronically) until May 5, 2006. After that date, all pre-registrations are non-refundable.

Next newsletter in a couple of weeks!

Tomorrow is the registration deadline:

ZDayZ Registration - The deadline for ZDayZ pre-registration is Friday, April 21, 2006. After that you will no longer be able to register for ZDayZ, the car show, or pre-order t-shirts at special pre-registration prices. Also, remember you must be a ZDayZ registered participant or guest in order to win sponsor donated prizes and to participate in ZDayZ dinners. So, if you still haven't filled out your registration, go to the Registration download page and take care of it today.

Official Newsletter of ZDayZ 2006
April 21, 2006

Less than a month to ZDayZ and the anticipation continues to build! With pre-registration over, we are now estimating over 200 cars and close to 400 attendees at this years show. Hopefully, you are one of the lucky people who will be joining the Z crowd for a weekend of fun in the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains!

On to the newsletter… we’re light on images this month, but there is a lot of good information below. So, please read on for the latest ZDayZ news…

ZDayZ Registration
ZDayZ pre-registration is over as of midnight Friday, April 21, 2006. You can still register for ZDayZ prior to arrival. However, from now until ZDayZ you will pay the same price to register as you will if you register onsite ZDayZ weekend. If you would still like to register before the event, please visit our website, www.zdayzevents.com, and download the current registration form from the registration page.

ZDayZ Dinners
After last year’s ZDayZ, we received a lot of feedback regarding the two dinners. We decided to change things up this year and make the dinner expense part of our general registration fee. By doing so, the ZDayZ staff feels we are able to provide better dinners at a more affordable price than at previous ZDayZ.

This year, our welcome dinner on Friday night is a buffet and will include BBQ chicken, pulled pork BBQ, and plentiful sides. Saturday, we’ll have a cookout style dinner with angus hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the condiments to go with them. The ZDayZ staff was able to sample both dinners a few weeks ago and was very impressed with what Fontana Village had put together. We think everyone will be happy and full following both meals. In addition, free beverages will be available all weekend at ZDayZ related activities, courtesy of the ZDayZ organizers.

ZDayZ Products
Expect to see more ZDayZ items at the ZDayZ Check-In desk this year. We’ve carefully selected new items to compliment our attractive event t-shirts. Many have already ordered the special pre-registration white event t-shirt. The white ZDayZ shirt was available only by pre-order, though we may have a few extra to give away that weekend. At ZDayZ, a different black event t-shirt ($15) will be available for purchase as well as black ladies tank tops ($18). There will also be a limited number of ZDayZ knit polo shirts ($30-$35) and baseball caps ($10). Other ZDayZ items, such as 2006 pint glasses and key chains, will only be available by participating in certain ZDayZ events.

Premium Raffle Items!
ZDayZ 2006 will be busting at the seams with great giveaways donated by our company and club sponsors! We have so many great prizes we’ve had to figure out new ways to give them all away. New for ZDayZ 2006 will be premium raffle items. We will feature one item from each of our ZDayZ partners all weekend at our Check-In desk. For each of these items, attendees can maximize their chances of win by purchasing raffle tickets specific to that item. Watch for special prizes donated by Hotchkis Tuning, 350ZFRENZY.com, Crawford Z Car Service, Z1 Motorsports, BFGoodrich Tires, and Sport Z Magazine!

Activity Spotlight – Group Photo
At the first two ZDayZ, our group photo was captured at Fontana Dam. The pictures were awesome, but unfortunately we will probably not be able to use the Tennessee Valley Authority property this year. If this changes, we’ll announce it during the Welcome Dinner Friday night.

At this time, we are planning to organize the group photo on the Fontana Village ballfield immediately following car show voting. All car show entrants will already be on the ballfield. So, when voting has wrapped up we will simply fill in the ballfield with the Zs and Gs which were not entered in the show.

We really want everyone to participate in this so we can get a shot with the largest number of cars for any enthusiast gathering at Tail of the Dragon. The Mini Cooper event claimed to have 300 cars in attendance last year, but their group photo only shows around 150. We definitely want to show enthusiasts of other cars that the Z crowd is the best (and biggest) crowd to run with. So, plan to be onsite around 4:00pm on Saturday as we try to cram every square inch of the field with Z-cars and G35s!

Activity Spotlight – ZDayZ Late Night!
What do you do after two days of driving the dragon, looking at hundreds of Z cars, and hanging out with fellow enthusiasts? Why, you hang out with your friends some more! Saturday night, the Fontana Village Adventure Center will be open for folks to just come and hang out, play games, watch videos, and whatever else our ZDayZ Late Night Master of Ceremonies cooks up. It’s sure to be fun, so drop by and see what is going on after the ZDayZ Awards Ceremony winds down.

Finally, it is with great pride I am able to highlight BFGoodrich as one of our partner sponsors in this newsletter. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the BFG g-force KD high performance tires. BFGoodrich has donated some great prizes and will have a representative on site at ZDayZ to answer your tire related questions. Be sure to look for BFGoodrich products at your local tire distributor and online at www.bfgoodrich.com.

That’s all for today. Look for our next newsletter in a few weeks.
