HIN - Charlotte, NC 5/13/06 - Who's going?

They have always done stuff like this but usually they get everything concrete earlier in the year... they already changed the schedule like 10 time this year... they get a conflict at the venue or forcast a problem like a competing event and move a date. Just sucks hard this time since it's so close...

All levels of cars are shown at HIN, from near stock with wheels and a stereo to full blown crazy stuff. Since they changed the rules this year and the judging criteria is different I can't say I even know the right combination for a "street car" to be competitive but the shows are fun and for me the reaction of the attendees is worth it for me... and also keeping sponsors happy. :P
The Charlotte show was the "breakout" show a few years back and had a very suprising turnout.. the crowd was down last year but the show was still alot of fun...
This year the model "talent" seems to be a little shallow, since they don't fly out most of the Super Hotties that they did in years past so you end up with alot of local chicken head and the rare beauty... also the Sponsor presence has dropped off a bit... booths are smaller and they don't give away near as much freebies but it's still worth going for the cars... imagine that "cars being important at a car show"

For those of us that do not have sponsors, but have just as much time/money, sometimes it just does not seem like an even hand it being applied. I really wanted to go to Charlotte to see what the judging down there would turn out, but since my car got damaged, there is just no way I can make that now…
I understood there were not as many ‘ties’ to the more northern clubs in this show, so was interested to see how the results might differ.Anyway, now it is a matter to decide if I want to try to attend AC and see what all the fuss is about, or do ZdayZ and get some driving in….
yea I just looked over that book and with my motor build I will be placed in wild? I mean this gives 5 wild mods? LIke brent said who want to compeat about sponcer cars? I think everyday driver/cars should be place in street/mild or something like that. I mean I get rock chips because I drive my car but sponcer cars dont have those worries.
This is why nopi, battleofimports, ect are good shows to be in there are more daily drivers

One more thing I in no way or form want to dump the kind of money somebody like gene did on his widebody but now I have to show against them? Those cars no matter what mods they have put them in a class should be "elite classed" nothing left stock!

I agree with you Totally. When my engine is built I will have to be in WILD, but depending on how the judges read it, I might be there already with my fiberglass work. Either way, I can't even place in MILD as it is...
The benefit you have at Charlotte, is the Gene and Emotion don't typically go to that show..
That was why I am soo upset that my car got trashed. I was hoping to get to that show and see how my car holds up to more normal tuner cars.
I know they will be at the HIN AC, and while I REALLY wanted to go to that, I think maybe there is no point as we already know who is going to win the WILD and SHOW categories.

Last year guys who "always won" were classified as ELITE. So it added a class to mild and wild. All vendor cars were automatically classified as ELITE also.
See you guy in Charlotte
So how many z's are we expecting here in Charlotte can't wait i'll be there, Saw a like a dark silver one with the nismo body kit except the rear ends. I only have a nismo spoiler, Injen CAI, and my RS*R is coming next 2 weeks

we could always use more Z's..... just a popular car that we love having w/ much variations between each tuner. As per classifying vehicles... The competition definitely is stiff at HIN but thats the beauty of it. I hope many of you enthusiasts can appreciate the caliper of some of these vehicles who go all show and beef up the all go to back it up!
At the end of the day, for me its about innovation and being unique. Doing what others dare not to... that IMO is the ultimate pride to want to show off.
any questions please email me at tphan@visionevent.com

There are a few of us meeting before we head to the show. We're meeting between 3-4 @ the UNCC parking lot near Hwy 49 (at the intersection with the gas station, near Campus Edge.) You can see the cars from the road.
We're gonna head out of UNCC around 4 to head to the show, you guys are welcome to come out and join us.

I have submitted multiple emails to HIN and NCCA I am awaiting responses to my suggestions and observations.
Good luck guys, have a great time and I hope to see you all around at some shows soon. I was at Carlisle, PA this weekend and I look forward to seeing the results and the rides everyone brings out for Charlotte. I know there are going to be some sick local rides and a lot of really clean whips.
Regards,

We need to figure out a place to meet, if some of you want to do that. Let me know which way alot of you may come into town. It may be easier to meet around the University Area like where "emack" posted above. That's close enough to 85 for alot of people.
Or I guess worse case scenario, we could meet at HIN and maybe grab some dinner together? Just throwing out ideas, any suggestions?
