There is pretty much no way to lower it that I could tell, it is a very precise fit (was kind of a ***** to install). The bar actually puts about 10 degrees upward on the harnesses from my shoulders because it mounts level with the stock upper seatbelt mounts.

Chances are I will have a set of diolen (fiberglass) Cobra Imola's installed by Nov. 4 though and the seats will be sitting a little bit lower than stock if that makes any difference.

I really appreciate you looking into this for me though.

Well... here's the quick fix... not sure how easy it will be though:

Have a seat back brace fabricated somewhere. Even with a race seat, its still a good thing to have... especially with the kind of power your car is putting out, you could conceivable reach some 'point of no return' velocities.

Check out THIS seatback brace from I/O port racing for an idea of what we're talking about

Well I have been thinking about taking the sound bar and everything out of the back to try and fit a set of track/auto-x wheels in the car in the future. So if that plastic was going to be out anyway, I might be able to find someone would could fab me something that mounted back there. I don't know, just thinking outloud.

I have only had the harness bar a few weeks, but have started (esp. now) contemplating just selling it and getting someone to fabricate me a custom 4point roll bar (i need full seat range so Kirk Racing won't work and I don't have any for sure info on the autopower bar). I heard there is a guy in Hillsborough, NC that does this, but i'm not positive.

EDIT: this guy... http://www.competitioncages.com/

I was just about to suggest Chris to you... he's one of our track event sponsors and is actually one of the guys I was trying to get to take a look at your bar I'm sure he could fab something up for you, whether it be just a seatbrace or a full 4-pt bar... if his schedule prevented it, there are a couple other Z club guys local to you that could fab something as well. Best thing would be to let us know when you are planning on pulling out the plastic. Obviously that would be the best time to have Chris or anyone take a look at whats there to work with.

And thank YOU for understanding our position on all this!

Oh, I understand your position...safety is most critical. As for when I could pull the plastic out, I feel sort of motivated right now and might just decide to do it tonight when I get home (we'll see).

I realize I have some time to do all this and doing it isn't the issue, its the money aspect(trying to buy a set of stock brembos in the next few days, get my new seats once I sell the ones that I have that I can't use, this whole deal, and pay for the event...then I will probably need new tires soon there after). I'm not sure what Chris charges for his 4-point roll bars or if he is busy in the next few weeks but I would definately like to figure all this out sooner than later.

i know Chris does great work, but his 4 point will cost around twice as much as a Kirk or Autopower bar. granted, his will fit better and give you seat travel you desire (which to me was/is the problem with the bolt-in bars).

why don't you just get your parents to send you the seatbelt hardware? that way, you can have both the harnesses and regular belts installed, and just use whichever the safety techs approve. seems like the cheapest, easiest way to do it.

Well I just took out all the plastic in the rear speaker bar/cubby holes (now my interior is almost 100% stripped except the dash/center console). I might try and get something fabbed up for the rear seat brace as well as have the stock seat hardware sent to me. Ditching the harness bar so soon seems kinda crazy, but I will give Chris a call tommorow none the less, just to see what he might charge.
