On a serious note, if you plan an event, you should stay until the end.
That's why you are the coordinator after all...
11:30am to 2:30pm, when you say "starts at 11:30am", that means people will get there around 12:30pm, considering you are having food and stuff, cooking takes time, 2:30pm you are cutting it extremely short for yourself, you're not going to enjoy it because you will be rushing the whole time you're there...

Here is how I think it goes
originally it was on Sunday
then found out he has to be in Ocala on Sunday so he moved it to Saturday
He doesn't want to drive too late so he is leaving early on Saturday

Gus is right, the reason he moved it to Saturday is the GF wants him in Ocala by Sunday. Now he wants to leave early Saturday because his car battery is dead.
