Paint Chips. Repaint? Touch Up? Charlotte, NC
I'm in the same situation as 99% of you here. The hood of my 350z and front bumper have suffered from 4 years of highway driving. I know a lot of people have just had their bumper repainted, but I do not know of any reputable shops in the Charlotte NC area. Just curious if anyone has had any paintwork done at a shop around here. Also, should I just get the chips touched up, or repaint the whole thing. I'm worried that it won't be an exact paint match, and think I might just be asking for trouble having it repainted. From what I have heard, its around $200-500 to repaint a front bumper? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. There are a few scratches on the front bumper also, that's why I am leaning more towards just having it repainted. Thanks in advance, and yes, i'm expecting to be flamed by the people who say SEARCH. I have, and that's what I have come up with.
I have a 03 with 121k miles and alot is highway so u can imagine the beating my front bumper took with knicks. i actually just sanded the nicks down and repainted my front bumper along with painting my rear bumper (damaged in accident) Im a auto body tech at a chevy dealership so i just sanded the WHOLE bumper with 80grit till all the nicks were gone then 180 the whole bumper. then i primed the bumper and then i 320 sanded the whole bumper to get the primer texture out then 600 for paint.
this consist on ALOT of elbow grease. but i wouldnt touch it up. get it repainted... youll like the end result
a good shop will charge you 1.5-3hrs repair on the bumper to get nicks out. (thats 2hrs x 45/hr shop labor=90 bucks + paint labor 2.5=205+paint materials= about 250-275... no more than 350) anything less than 175 is a hack job) if you like ill post pics of my bumper so you can see how slick it is done right... no touch up. i pull bumpers out of booth tomorrow morn
hope i could help

Look up finish pro inc. One man band right outside of Charlotte (Indian Trail). His shop is exactly top notch, but he does some awesome work for the best prices around. Dude's name is Jason. Let him know Matt with the Silver G coupe sent you. If you can't find him let me know and I'll get you his number.
When doing a side job guy like that make sure you ask them what kind of paint they use (ppg, dupont,rm,basf) are most common. if its a off the wall run. also ask is he going to base/clear. somtimes they do a base clear mix (single stage) wich is ****. wont last long
