guys im really wanting to get out of this japan trip now, they have been telling us we are leaving every other week since may and dragging their feet and now the $ runs out 9/30/11
so now we have to leave sunday. so this week we are expected to do 30 inspections to stay ahead of the workload while we are gone, along with any reactive work stoppages that come up. complete sere 100 training, isoprep, along with complete our travel orders.
oh and train 2 other guys to do our job while we are gone. and leave 4 days after returning to go do the same job at Beaufort sc.
i would really get off the restraint team and say im not going, but i like doing it. i just dont like the drama and bs that comes with the travel, (other people complaining that we are getting a free vacation to japan)
sorry guys had to vent.

im a navy civilian, my regular job is hoist inspector, but the restraint team stuff is where we go and test the pads where they chain the aircraft/engines down for testing.
heres a couple pics of exactly what happens. both of these pulls were to 90,000lbs, the second one was a pax river in support of the f35 program

Yea I gotacha. I use to work on F-18's and have seen the process. We actually couldn't test engines for like 3 months in Iwakuni because the restraint pads went past the calibration date. Finally a team from the states showed up and did something very similar to that.
It never mattered for aircraft though. We'd hook up two chains to the closest pads (calibrated or not) and do whatever test we needed to do lol..... I miss working on jets. Helicopters are so boring......

i just finally got the call today, my orders are final and i fly out sunday.
we are heading to iwakuni, the site we have to test is in a test cell. i saw pics it has a big mouth painted on the exhaust.
how long ago where you there when they had to come test it?

Shoot me an offer, I'm gonna take a hit on these. Friends of ours backed out at the last minute.

Chapel Hill here. Just figured I'd introduce myself. Been here for awhile but dont really know my way around the greater triangle. Either way, if anyone is meeting up sometime and doing some cruising or something - hit me up. I know quite a few 350zs and G35s running around town.
