Nah, no intelligent diag from here. Idk why your car would lose oil. I know Ive read some threads on here where people have said that there cars burn thru synthetic faster then regular dino oil. I myself just changed my oil and did notice approaching the 3k mark that the oil pressure had dropped ever so slightly from when I started this oil change cycle.

Am I concerned about it? Not really, every engine no matter how tight the tolerances and oil clearances is going to lose a little bit of oil in between changes. I change mine at 3k irregardless, I did it in my sentra se-r spec v, my altima, and my cavalier from my high school days.

I switched to 5W30 for this oil change and normally switch to 10W30 for the summer. However that will not affect how much oil your engine would use to the point that there would be a noticeable difference imo.

If you think your motor is losing oil on a constant, then take it to a dealer and start a oil consumption test. So far we only have one 06 that has come in complaining of oil consumption problems.

oil loses viscosity therefore the pressure goes down.

Eric - I've seen a couple of threads on here about '06s having oil consumption problems. You might want to have it looked at.

AMSOIL is awesome, I just changed out my tranni diff and engine fluids with Amsoil. It feels much better, then again it could be the placebo affect

umm about the oil thing no the car runs great when i just finish doing the oil change the oil level is allways fine but the oil just doesnt last for ish is what im getting at.i might have to go amsoil i carry it here at my job so i might be able to get a good discount on it . what do you guys think about royal purple? my main issue is that i thought that synthetic would normally last longer than normal oil but i found myself still changing it every 3 thou wether i wanted to or not because around that time my car would do that wierd valve tap deal like it was starving. i dont know maybe its because i run my car too hard oh well but the next q is royal purple or amsoil? oh thaks for the info carlitos you moda bich but if anyone wants to tell me its a good brand that would be great? so i dont feel like a got a bs sponsorship

Synthetic oil flows better than dyno oil, so if you have a leaky seal or ring, the synthetic oil may be getting through somplace where it wasn't before.

If the oil is low at 3000 miles, why not just fill it back up instead of changing it?

There are many cases of G35's consuming oil and having the motor replaced. It's the same VQ design as the Z, so you may have a similar issue. You may want to have Nissan do an oil consumption test.

gilley the thing is there is no leaking its almost like its losing viscosity really fast and i guess the only thing that can make that happen is hard driving? its just i thought it would last longer than that

Default Happy Turkey Day!

I know most of you have families and are doing the big dinner thing, but for those of you who don't, we are heading to the auto show tomorrow to try to avoid some of the crowds. If anyone else is going, let me know. We'll probaby have a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner somewhere afterwards.

Yea, What Juno said.

Everyone have a happy Turkey Day and enjoy yourselves over the long weekend. Just be careful out there. Lots of people on the roads.

Be safe and enjoy being with your family and friends.
