Post Nissan GT-R

It's Official!

Pity it won't be available until the spring of '08.

This was also posted in the GT-R forum. I think it's a mistake. It keeps the heritage and namesake, etc.. but the service at the dealerships SUCK, and I can't imagine blowing 70K+ at a Nissan dealership.
It will be cool to see the Nissan name on the GT-R though, maybe if customers can get them serviced at Infiniti dealers it will be ok.

I have a feeling that the GT-R Owners will be getting there cars serviced at tune shops and not the Dealership.

I have a feeling you are wrong about that. This is the US not JDM land and unfortunately most of the GT-R owners will be guys that buy them for the image and not for the performance. I would bet that over 90% of them never get driven hard and never get modded, kinda like Corvettes.

Exactly.
Look at the Z, 90% of them are never going to see a track much less a real tuning shop. The GT-R will lure some buyers out of Porshe Cayman and Z06/Viper sales with better or equal performance, but not everyone will be using that performance properly as they should

Personally I think the GTR would be Nissan till the end of it's production life. I've never seen a Camaro become a Chrystler or anything else like that (that I can remember).

Personally I think the Skyline GTR being an Infinity would of made no sense. The Infinity line is a more luxury and luxurious look - it's quite different from the Nissan line. I could just picture a G35 sedan w/ a GTR badge.. *YUK!* GTR is aggressive and not 'luxurious' looking. In all honesty it's like the Nissan is for the more outgoing crowd, and the infinity is for the reserved and laid back taking it slow crowd. The latter not being a good fit for a car such as the GTR *IMO

*IMO Nissan & Infinity are two completely different idealogies, making the Skyline an Infinity for the sake of service is.... questionable to say the least and goes against Infinity's idea of a refined and luxurious car.

Service is service regardless and no car manufacturer is exempt of imperfections. I would service hop until I found a nissan dealer that I personally liked to work with and as of to date I haven't had any issues with service and my car has been serviced many times for warranty work, and TSB's. Even knowning know what I've been thru with my '03 Z would I of bought a Infinity? Heck no! I love my Z

Just so you know:

1. It is Infiniti NOT Infinity
2. I think what you were trying to say was you can never see a Camaro becoming a Buick since both Chevy and Buick are made by GM vs a Chrylser which is a totally different manufacture.

I hope this helps....

I believe 90% is a very conservative estimate.
