Darrel: Thanks for posting the information. Bump, to see if anyone else is planning on going.

Does anyone in the area have a set of track worthy rear brake pads that they are looking to sell or get rid of? I'm looking for something that will get me by for this event. I have the Touring, so the non-Brembo set up. I figure with all the BBKs and people selling their cars (Will) there may be an extra set laying around in a Colorado garage that are unneeded or unwanted.

Thanks,
David

David: Check with Resolute (Will). I think he might have a set for you. At the La Junta track day back in March(?) he offered me a set for sale.

Be safe, Have fun, and Best of luck to all that attend!!!

I was going to be going to this, but I just found out my plans are changing for that day. I won't be able to make it. Hope you all have fun, and stay cool.

I was planning to be there but I have a m/c trip to Utah that has changed those plans. It looks like I won't make either track day this year. I'm hopeful that David may come up with another day sometime. If not I'm off 'till next year.

I'll be there.

Craig - We'll miss you at the Z-Car event! Are you going to Utah for the AMA race?

Gary,
No, I decided that I've negelected the m/c too long (6000 miles in 4 years) and decided to take in a rally in Panguitch (near St.George). I am not going to the bike races. I am, however, going to the ALMS race in July at Miller Motorsports. The Audi R10 is going to be there. It will campaign the remaing races of ALMS after Le Mans this weekend.

Well it was another great Z car club track event. I am glad that I was able to attend this time.

It took me a while to get use to the track driving, the different tires, and even the car again. Luckily there were only about three or four other cars in my group. The Porsche GT3 was in my group for a round. I was able to overtake him on one lap, but as soon as the driver figured out the lines and that a lightweight track built 911 should handle and out accelerate a 350z with 100 pound wheels, I was getting in his way. Also in my group was a Crossfire which handled surprising well. It was driving by a pretty cool guy who told me that it’s his wife car and that he wished it had a lot more power. There were two 300z’s that I kept getting in the way of too. All the drivers were cool.

It was also cool to see Dave’s tube frame Z. Dave: best of luck with perfecting that car.

It took me till the end of the second round when I was felling comfortable to really push the z. Well to my definition of coming off the track with the brake discs smoldering and tire tread looking a little odd. One thing that I did notice it that with a less gripy tires in the front, I felt a little less confident to take sharper turns. By the third round I was doing fine. Then I had to leave.

I was able to get a set of used rear brake pads from Gary, which I really appreciated. I also appreciated Will’s offer for brake pads.

Gary: Thanks again, when I changed them out there way about 1/16” of the pad left. I’m glad that I sheared off the wear indicator and that I didn’t get down to the steal backing plate. If I were to stay for another round I’m sure I would have been there.

Craig: Hopefully you and your kids will be able to make it next time. Speaking of, hopefully I'll be able to make it too.

David
