Default Arizona Residents I need some help.

Basically I am wondering if any of you have gotten cited by the cops for driving around with Expired Tags. I am down here in Tucson so im not sure if there will be a difference between Tucson and other areas of the state but I am wondering if there is a Fine, if so how much, or (if everything else is current on your vehicle), will they just give you a warning and tell you to get the vehicle tags updated ASAP.
You see im in the military stationed here at DM AFB and i recently started the paperwork to have my wife dropped off the title. Basically with her off the title my registration feel will be around $30 as opposed to $215 with her on the title showning joint ownership. The credit union is taking care of all the paperwork but im afraid it wont be updated in the DMV computers before it comes time for me to register. And i was told that i can not get an extension since saving money on your registration is not a valid excuse for not registering, (no surprise there). I am fine driving around with expired tags for a few days if all i will get is a warning, it will save me around $170, minus a $8 late registration fee, but if there is a stiff fine for driving with expired tags then it wont be worth it and I should just suck it up and pay the full $215 renewal fee. So if any of you have any info on the stituation i would greatly appreciate it. I will post this on AZ350Z.com as soon as I can remeber my login info

Thanks

Well i will likely just go in on Tuesday to the DMV and pay the renewal fee ill just have to wait and see if it will be $12 or $215. As ar as on line renewal goes, screw that On line they are not even reconizing my Military Exemption and want $430 for the renewal.

If you get caught off-base you will get a citation.
If you get caught on-base you will answer to your squadron commander.

There is no military extension for registration. Technically your car can be impounded, but you would really have to **** off a cop for that to happen.

If I stopped you and you told me what you wrote here (and were polite), I would only give you a warning. I usuall.y don't screw with AD unless they are asses.

Thats cool, its not really a big deal I was just wondering what the consequences were if i were caught with expired tags. I found out from posting onAZ350Z that the fine is $300 so ill just have to get the wife take some time off from work and have her go in with me so I can have her removed from the title right there on the spot. which i was told could be quick and painless. (will have to see)
As far as screwing with active duty folks Im sure you get your fair share of a holes in uniform thinking that they deserve special breaks cause they are in the service. I was riding with a buddy of mine once and he got pulled over and he did the ol flash the military ID thing and the cop still asked to see his info, and went back to his car to write some stuff down. Well when he came back my friend was giving him attitude, so the cop said **** it and wrote him a ticket. All the cop did was go to his cruiser to check to make sure everything was in order on the vehicle. He ended up having to pay a fine, not sure how much it was but well he was being a jerk and deserved it.
