Nice! wish I had a weekday off once in awhile, probably no traffic. Those drives over 200 mile I really need to get out a stretch...nice place to do it.
Did you go inside and see ghosts? I saw a show...that place IS haunted!

No. I must be showing my age. The movie "The Shinning" was flimed there. The 328 miles was the back mountain roads to get there and back for me.

Estes Park is beautiful. My wife and I love to go up there for a weekend in the Fall. Absolutely gorgeous. Sounds like you had a fun drive, Robert. Ada go along too?

I love Estes Park. The canyons on the way make for some GREAT driving! We go hiking there at least once a year.

Not THAT shining though. There are two shinnings, there is the one with jack that everyone thinks off, that movie wasnt from the stanly, that was The Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood in Oregon. There was an ultra cheesy version that was done which was filmed at the stanly. Probably one of the weakest movies ive ever seen! I do like it when the bushes come alive at the end though, real nice touch with the cheesy graphics. Stanley Kubrick opted not to do this so had that maze instead. If your intrested in the one the stanly hotel had, its the 1997 version by the king himself. It was a USA mini series. Supposed to follow the book directly unlike the kubrick movie which moved away from the book a bunch. Just a little intresting trivia, that and to help you not feel so dated!

On that note, I do love it up there, that drive after boulder gets real fun. I bought my Eclipse GSX up in estes. Tons of fun to drive up there and back, and its such a great place to visit and see! We go camping near there all the time! Glad you had fun. (Next time you will have to go in, they have pretty decent food, but horrible service). Cheers.

Its a great drive and a great hotel. However the orginal movie with Jack Nickolson and directed by Stanley Krubrick was NOT filmed there. It was filmed I believe in Wyoming at a resort.

Stephen King wrote some of the book and got his inspiration from the Stanley. The made for TV movie that Stephen King directed was filmed there.

Sorry for the thread hijack but The Shining is one of my favorite movies. Nice clean cars BTW.
