Thomas, I just got off the phone with him tonight before seeing your post. I am sure I will talk to him again in the morning and will tell him to call you.

Do I have to choose?

No, I'm going to have to miss the drive (other commitments, and the fact that I'm semi-retired from going on group drives, will keep me out of this one.)

Have fun! I'm sure it'll be a good time.

After 4+ years of organizing and going on drives with our local Z group, I've just seen too many testosterone-induced close calls up in the mountain twisties for it to be fun anymore. I don't want my lasting memory of this group to be the sight of somebody overdriving their car on some remote stretch of mountain asphault, and putting it into the side of a mountain, a guardrail, or over a cliff while trying to prove how close they can drive to the car in front.

I still enjoy hanging out with the group, as I think we've got a much better group than most other car enthusiast clubs, and I always enjoy our happy hours/dinners/tech days/track days/etc, but my priorities have changed to the point that I just won't be able to make as many of the drives as I have in the past.

Not to sound like an elitist road-racer jackass, but I'd much rather go 3-wide through a turn on the track with trained corner workers watching my ***, than have some deer that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ruin the day for one of my friends.

Not sure I went on those drives, maybe I did and just didn't notice, I don't know.
Sorry to hear that Gary, I guess I will quit pestering you now every time I wanna go on a drive.

Maybe this explains the lackluster turnout for these drives that we seem to be experiencing of late versus the days of old.

See everyone who decides to come Saturday

Interesting comment from Gary. I think exactly the opposite by retiring from the track after 20 years, and start doing these drives. I found the drives are much more relaxing with nice scenery. Have no desire to "prove how close they can drive to the car in front" either. Instead of doing 9/10 or 10/10 on the track, just 6/10 or 7/10 on the drive is very enjoyable. Heck, turning on AC is comfy and doesn't matter if the car loses some power.

I like to cruise too, these guys always leave me in their dust! On a cruise im in cruise mode, not lets go 25 over the speed limit the whole way.

Just to clarify, I didn't mean to imply that everyone that goes on these drives has that attitude, nor that I've not pushed it too hard in the twisties on occasion, myself. I want to be clear that I am not pointing the finger at the entire group, or even at any one person in particular.

But after going on numerous drives with this group to Aspen, Steamboat, Trail Ridge, etc., I've seen it often enough to make the drives no longer as enjoyable as they used to be.

And I'm sure that once I've gained the experience that you have, I'll leave the track and dial it back down to just enoying the scenery (it sure is a lot less expensive, less time consuming, more relaxing, etc.)

And like I said, I hope everyone enjoys the drive.

Thanks! I did notice the map had us leaving Union Blvd going east to Wadsworth to hit 6th ave then coming back on 6th ave past Union. Why not just jump on 6th @ Union?
