Default Anyone have any DYNO related information?

Hey people, as you know I'm signed up for the show.

I'm also signed up for the Dyno the day before.

Does someone here have specific information on the dyno and services they are going to provide?

I have been e-mailing aaron@motorsports and I got the following:

The dyno will be measuring pulls only. Your choices are quarter mile time, 0-60 time, and horsepower/torque
In speaking with him originally, he stated they were offering 2 pulls for $69.95. He didn't seem to be the one with the actually dyno information, so I asked him some additional questions and he came back with some answers but not all.

I was trying to find out what kind of Dyno they are planning to run. Printouts? What were they going to measure? They are not doing A/F. I suppose it'd be interesting to get a 1.4 mile and HP/TRQ on seperate print outs in 2 pulls.

It isn't clear yet what "2 pulls" means. Are they putting the car on the dyno, doing 1 single pull and measuring/printing one of the 3 options, pulling again and measuring/printing one of the 3 options?

This has to be a mobile dyno right? There aren't too many of those running around southern Ca, or available to souther Ca so I figured someone might even know who was providing the Dyno, and I could get info from them directly.

I have been to 3 dynos so far, and my experience has been three pulls for 1 result, right? Are They are going to do 2 pulls, and give you 1 result each?

How is this for accuracy/consistency? Good enough for government work?

Let me know if anyone has any insight to this/them/that day.

Default I got the dyno info...

They are running a mustang Dyno. Any input on these?

(2) Runs, (1) Pull Each, W/printout, NO A/F.

I'm still getting verification of what is going to be on the printout, at first I understood (1) of (3) options. However it's possible that you can print out (2) of (3) options.

The options are 1/4 Mile time, 0-60 Time, and of course HP/TRQ.

Obviously if you can get 1/4 and HP/TRQ on one, and 0-60 and HP/TRQ on another, then that's the ticket.

We'll see

Im kinda ticked off about the dyno day. it cost $69 for 2 pulls. Is that a good price, maybe. But when I went online to register, they spoke about having the dyno day. But they never gave the price until I called to sign up. And by the way, I would also like to know what a mustang dyno is.

Hey Ray! What's up?

I'm with you on the "price after you call thing" and no it's not a good price, I'm doing because there should be a good mix of car there and I'd like to see how my car stacks up against them.

Depending where you go, there they charge between 75-125 for a couple runs, and usually 3 pulls a run. I don't think there is a "standard" for this, it all depends where you go.

They are charging nearly a "professional dyno testing" price, and not offering complete services, in this case no A/F and only 1 Pull per run.

If you are looking for a good price on a dyno, I'd check out the board for a group event and get on it there. It'll be between $50-$100 but it will usually be more complete.

As far as mustang goes. I've heard of them from time to time, but I "know" nothing about them. They appear to be a load based dyno, which is critical. They use a "eddy current" system, and apparently have some "frictionless" method of placing this load with some kind of "power absorber" Vs. using something to "brake" the rollers, this is their method of "removing variables".

The DTS Dyno I've been running on uses brakes to set the load on the rollers. However this like anything else, is just their method of removing variables.

Dynapack Dynos remove all of these variables, by attaching directly to the hub on the axle, removing all input from wheels & tires.

I'm trying to get on a Dynapack also.

Which particular product is the best? I couldn't tell you, that's why I am trying to get on as many as possible to see the differences my self. As I know what I am doing with my car/fuel/computer, I will know if something is "unrealistic".

Load based dynos are more important in tuning and "real world performance" Vs a DynoJet type of dyno where it is strictly "inertia" and some math applied to the values.

However, strangely enough, DynoJet numbers are more popular across this industry.

It also appears that DynoJet is now offering a Load Based product as well, so this generalized statement will not be accurate in all cases.
