From what I heard, there haven't actually been more freeway shootings this year than previous years. The shootings are just being televised more frequently compared to before.

My advice would be to drive more passively when you see some road-rage-redneck or some pickup-driving "gangsta"s who like to follow 1/2" behind you at 90mph. Just get out of their way.

It's not like following closely will get you there faster, fuggin idiots...

They just need more cops in order to shoot at unarmed people and into restaurants and houses nearby....oh yeah and let's not forget at each other...morons...

In my opinion the entire southern california police forces should be fired, half of them send to jail for breaking the laws they swore to uphold and then the whole thing should be reorganized with less cops but cops who know what they are doing and who will follow the law and don't just bullie people around....oh yeah, and maybe they should learn how to hit the target they are aiming at instead of the random shooting around they've been doing.
Till this day I have not ever seen a cop help me or my loved ones when they were needed but they are always first in line to write you a ticket for drving an import sports car...

ditto, the NICEST thing a police officer or sheriff has ever done was NOT give me a ticket for one of the BS reasons they pulled me over, ive never seen them protect and serve...

They are too busy to help people out it seems. I pulled over to help this black guy here in La Jolla and he appeared to do a double take on the situation. Seems he had been there for 10 hours broken down on the side of the road, and about a dozen cops had passed him up, not a one stopping to help. He asked why I stopped, I told him I wasn't from around here. One simple phone call, and he was back on the road in less than 15 minutes.

Someone should create a political committee for police reform. I find it hard to believe that most people are happy with the abuse that the police is bringing down.
We don't need more cops we need better cops.
For example those cops that fired 120 rounds at an unarmed man and into several houses nearby and so forth nothing happened to them. They had a lawyer apologize for them and all seems forgiven...I find that unaccabtable. How come that they don't need to answer to anyone? Are we not paying their salary? I am quite frankly more afraid of cops than of some gangster. A gangster at least I know wants to hurt me, cops you don't know what they will do...I find that quite scary

I rather have the police force concentrating on dealing with more serious issues on hand than handing out seat-belt tickets.

Obviously, I don't need the State to protect my own well-being and fine me for not taking care of myself. If I want to fly out of my windshield than so be it, I rather have a rapist off the streets than getting fine for 300 bucks for the State not allowing to fly out of my windshield. Yes, I do wear my seatbelt.

+1 on the "click it or ticket" campaign. It's a nationwide program that starts just prior to Memorial Day which is one of the more deadly holidays to drive on. 4 July is the worst. In SE VA, the local and state po-po are out in droves until Labor Day. However, they are fairly predictable and patrol the same areas on the highways leading to the beach. If you take surface streets, you can just about drive however you want, because the police are focusing on catching out of towners:-)

Saw a Camaro CHP today on 110 Northbound... haven't see one in the longest time.
Also saw 3 bomb squads with lights on flying down 110 Southbound... did something happen?

iris - I don't think unmarked cars can do normal traffic enforcement. Even the CHP cars w/o the roof lights still have the shields on the doors. This was not the case back East, where I was pulled over by a burgundy Mazda MX-6 GT with tinted windows and no markings whatsoever. They used to drive Grand Nationals and all sorts of sneaky vehicles to track us down. They even put radar units on the tractors that mowed the grass in the median! This was when the speed limit was still just 55.

FLZ Boy - I have mixed feelings on this one. I don't like more rules than are necessary, but I'd hate to make a driving mistake that resulted in a death rather than a minor injury because someone chose not to wear a seatbelt. Seems like a minor inconvenience with obvious benefits.

SHO-TIME - I see the bomb-squad Suburbans rushing around all the time. When I lived in Pasadena, I used to see them on the 210 almost weekly it seemed. Saw a few on the 405 over the Sepulveda pass last week.
