Cool Vandenberg Missile Launch

Tonight: VANDENBERG LAUNCH - September 22 Look up in the sky towards the NW between 7:24 and 7:37 pm tonight. The first Vandenberg AFB dusk launch in nearly three years is slated for Thursday, September 22. The Gondor booster is scheduled to lift- off from south Vandenberg at 19:24 PDT, the start of a 16-minute launch window. Several minutes later, the rocket will place the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's Streak satellite into a polar orbit. As seen from Santa Barbara, lift-off occurs 29 minutes after sunset. The Gondor is expected to climb into sunlight during the second stage burn at about T+90 seconds. The exhaust plume will be illuminated by the sun and may create an impressive display visible as far away as Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico. The launch may be visible until nearly T+13 minutes

I think I caught a picture of it. It was the weirdest display in the sky I have ever witnessed.

That was really weird. For some reason it totally didn't look like a normal launch does. It was really close to my house, I took some video of it that i need to put on the computer.

I live east of San Diego now and it looked strange when the sun set behind it.

I landed in Burbank about an hour after the launch. There were a couple of news trucks there and I asked what was going on. They said they heard that somthing on fire fell of a plane. LOL
