Ok, some thoughts on G35c vs. 350z
Well, had a chance to sit and drive in both. I am sure you have heard countless reviews regarding these two vehicles, etc. Some of my opinions:
1. Sunroof option not worth it for the G35c. Opening is very small and sucks up a lot of headroom. Unfortunately, depending on which options package you want, you may be forced to buy one with it to get other options.
2. Brembos look very nice, however the front calipers on the showroom one already had chipped finish. It looks like whoever install the alloys were in a hurry and chipped the finish. For track owners take a good look and make sure there are no chips and if so try to make a warranty claim.
3. The seats in the Z feel much better. I don't know why. Could be that the leather does not have as much give as the cloth.
4. Folks who thought you would end up with more trunk space in the G35c, don't worry it's a wash. the rear 2+2 is great for stashing stuff but the trunk is basically a place for brief cases and a few grocery bags.
5. Ride is definitely smoother and quieter, however all that deadening of vibrations, kind of kills the fun for the G35c.
6. The cup holders are worthless on the G35c. You kind wished that the dash had a pull out like the Z.
7. I might have to go on a Jenny Craig diet or something because both vehicles seemed too small inside. Perhaps the price you pay for performance.
8. Driving position is more ideal in the Z. For me the relation of the steering wheel to the pedals and shifter, seem to work better on the Z than the G35c.
9. Although age-wise I am relatively young, I am getting older and softer. So the cocooning effect of the G35c seems to draw me to it, even though function-wise the Z is the choice.
10. Don't work Z owners the orange peel issue is just as horrible for the G35c as it is for the Z. Perhaps this is the new standard for Nissan products?
11. The HVAC controls are so much nicer and simpler on the Z. Your not looking at a sea of small buttons to push, all of which are still ergonomically correct for a JDM right hand driver and not left hand. More cost cutting.
On a side note as soon as my friend get more Autoarts in I will PM folks. Happy New Year.

Owning both, I think I agree with all of your points, other than both being too small and the sunroof taking up headroom, but then, I'm 5'7 and my wife is 5'4ish.
As for orange peel, just about all new cars seem to have it.
