Got pulled over for violation 22101 (d)...
i turned right on a red light, being so tired comming from work i never noticed that you can't turn right under a certain time of the day. well an lapd was waiting for cars just around the street and pulled me and 3 others. i have a 22101 (d) as my violation. the police officer was surely there trying to make quota. he explained to me why he pulled me over. i actually apologised that i hadn't seen the sign. he was cool about it and told me i had a nice car (but he still gave me a ticket..lol. i guess not nice enough). my question is...could i just go to traffic school for this or do i need to pay a fine and get a point on my record ??? please say not the latter....

You have to pay the fee no matter what (bail). You will pay more if you opt to go to traffic school. If you don't opt to go to traffic school, you pay less, but you keep the point. Only way you can get out of paying any amount of money is if you fight it and win at your court appearance date. Good luck.

i'd rather go to traffic school than have that point for 3 years and have my insurance skyrocket...
besides i can't fight anything. i was guilty. i did not intend to break the law, i just didn't notice the sign until after the fact

This happened to me in Coronado! Only the cop was behind me, talk about not paying attention! I paid $208 and went to traffic school online, bye bye point!
Oh yea, you should get a letter form the court stating if you are eligible to attend traffic school.

I don't think you got charged wth running a red light, but with not obeying the sign that says you can't turn right on red. Check http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/si...f/CA-Part1.pdf and see if the sign is in accordance with the standards and if not fight the ticket on basis of the sign not being "official"

LA superior court is the major ripoff. Do the traffic school, you have to pay like 40 more to the court on top of your bail and 15-18 dollars to an online traffic school. you can finish it in a day, but i took it easy and finished a chapter a day. I had to pay 397 total for a freaking double light intersection, the light ahead turned yellow, i was paying attention to that one and didn't notice the light behind turned red. They are only about 20 yards apart, no way can you get hit since the other side is still yellow too, so it's not a safety hazard. It's a freaking gold mine with the auto picture taking machines.

but i wasn't speeding....i was on a red light...and 99% of the time it'sokay to turn right at a redlight provided that you make a full stop and you're in the clear. apparently it was one of these signs with a time line saying from 3pm-8pm http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/si...specs/R13A.pdf

About speeding was for FairladyZX,
CVT, you didn't get cited for running a red light, but for not obeying the sign you posted. Find out if it's legel to "change" that sign with times, if not you can fight the ticket
