Upcoming K-Town Z/G meet info - Check Here!
the car's sitting on my driveway right now.. this is what happened:i was driving in traffic going about 5mph when i felt a sudden jerk in the car.
so i look down and see the SES light on... take a look at the temperature and its ALL the way up. oil pressure seemed kinda low but that might've been because the car was moving in lower RPM's. everytime i tried to drive the car would bog right around 1800 rpm's and i couldn't rev any higher.
so i'd go through the gears til i hit 6th cruising at about 35-40mph keeping the rpm's low. luckily, there was traffic so that was the average speed everyone was cruising.
when i got on the 605n i was on the phone with david trying to explain the problem to him. while driving the car stalled out for a second and came back on. so i got off the next exit to make a stop at the nearest gas station. at the exit, the car died again so i had to start it up. i pulled into the mobil gas station and popped the hood.
there was a splash of coolant by the radiator but there was no sign where it leaked from. looking down i could clearly see that the undertray panel (whatever its called) was wet. there was still plenty of coolant so i figured it was okay.
i also checked the oil level on the dipstick and it was normal. however, a week ago i did add another 2 quarts of oil because of the returning oil consumption problem. that wasnt the first time i've had to put in more since my last oil change.
by now its getting dark so i want to hurry up and get home, one way or another. i turn on the car and see that the temperature is back to normal level. so i start her up and although it struggles for a second, she starts running. SES light is still on, but car felt pretty normal. i pull out of the gas station and hop back on the fwy. revs no longer limited to 1800rpm, so i figured it was a good thing.
as im driving everything seems fine for the first few minutes. i still drive around 45-50mph just to be safe though. i keep an eye on the temp. and see that its a tad bit higher. a few seconds later, the car starts bogging and the dash lights flicker. uh-oh, car stalls while im going 50mph. no power-steering but its okay, im strong. so i turn the key with the clutch in and it starts right back up. *whew*
now im getting closer and closer to the 60fwy. the temperature is much higher now and it stalls again. this time its harder to start her back up, but i keep trying and get it to go. thank God.
so im on the 60fwy now and just driving in the slow lane. at this time there are still a lot of cars and the avg speed is around 20-30mph. i decide that my car just isn't going to make it home so i decide "**** it, i'm going to get off the closest exit, Seventh St."
i let the car roll in neutral as much as possible and as im starting to move uphill, the motherfcuking car bogs and shuts off. crap, i was only about 3/4 mile from the exit! so i turn on my hazards and sit there in the slow lane... i then decide to call around for help. chp finally shows up after 10-15 minutes of honking and yelling from angry drivers.
so the chp tells me he's going to give my car a push and i was like wtf?
push with WHAT?! omfg he's going to push my car with his. GREAT! so BOOM, his car makes contact with mine. i can hear my rear bumper get cracked and it makes me cringe. oh well, like i have a choice right? so he pushes me and we're going 40mph while im in neutral with no power steering. finally i see the exit, so i take the exit. oh man, this exit is freakin STEEP!
the chp officer starts yelling for me to brake but my brakes dont work. so i pull the hand brake and the car slows down a little, but the damn hill is so steep i cant make it stop in time. no cars so i just make that sharp right and pull as close to the sidewalk as possible. cop decides i need to move the car up more and nudges me again sorry for the long story

if u kept driving with a bad thermostat and kept overheating ur eng...u might also need a new head gasket...when it happened to me...my head gasket got fuked up due to it being so hot...and again i might be wrong about all this...if i am right...thermostat isnt too expensive...head gasket is EXPENSIVE...well more expensive...plus labor = friggen high...this is from my experience though

also couldnt the cop like hook up a rope or something to his rear and connect it to ur tow hook and pull u? that wouldve made more sense...wouldve messed up less stuff...
well the MAIN reason i wanted to part out is because of all the problems here and there with the car... that and trying to drive around so low makes it a hassle. but if i can at least get the car to run perfectly without any problems then i'm more likely to keep it modded.
i am still parting out a few items though...
