i wouldn't get it... i think it's too much for a tv that can't play 1080p. best buy isn't always the best buy

 

what is 1080p? i dont have HD channels and dont plan on getting hddvd player. just basic dvd and videos.. ps2 sometimes..

1080p is like the highest quality playback for tv's available right now... it's used for blu-ray discs. the tv you linked above can only output 720p, which is standard HDTV and 480p edtv (enhanced definition).

i know you said you don't have HD channels or plan on getting an HD DVD player, but i believe some HD tv's have built-in HDTV tuners so you don't need to really buy anything. eventually, HD is going to be standard, so it's nice to know you won't be dropping ~$1k on something that's already outdated. also, if you ever decide to purchase a ps3, you can watch blu-ray discs on it... believe me, it's pretty insane.

i've also played tekken 5 dr on ps3 on a 52in LCD and it seriously blew me away.

well... its gonna be my secondary tv.. when i move out in about a year, then ill invest in a nice one for the living room, and throw this insignia in my bedroom. but for now, i think itll be fine.
