Glad this came up as I'd like to chime in...
To Z31, Z32 owners, GET OVER IT! 75% of 350Z owners are clueless, f**king dolts who bought a car because it was "neat" or "cool" and know next to NOTHING about their cars. I cannot tell you how many 350Zs I've passed where I cannot even get the owners to acknowledge me. Furthermore, if they do decide to look over it's usually a "whatever" sneer. I had to remind one guy that he was driving the Enthusiast when he gave me a "mine is better than yours" look and took off like a tough guy.
The people on this board who ARE enthusiasts and/or previous Z owners are a VERY SMALL minority compared to the outside world. Unfortunately, you guys just keep running into the ********.

damned droid, are you serious??? every 350z owner I've met, whether a member of this board or not has always waved, flashed lights, smiled or done something to get my attention... and every 350z owner I met BEFORE my car arrived was the same... I can't tell you the number of times I've pulled next to a Z (all models) or a Z has pulled next to me to share some comments and a thumbs up.
where in the fricking hell are you guys meeting these jacka$$es???
if I've ever not responded to a Z owner, I apologize... since I'm usually blasting my music and because driving the 350 is one of the best parts of my day, I sometimes zone out... but my experience has been completely different from what the other Z owners are complaining about and I stand behind the people that I've met on this board 100%... anytime and anyday...

Well, I figured it's best to bring it up before some bridges get burned; you know what I'm saying?
I saw the post over on Got-Z.com and it really troubled me that the older Z guys are really getting a negative impression of the 350Z.
I dunno, but it's sorta my opinion that unless something's done about this soon it's gonna become a much, much bigger problem.
[[for the record, the area where most of the complaints about unresponsive Z owners is coming from So Cal, in Los Angeles and Orange County.]]

Trending Topics
I've been driving Zs for longer than most of those people have been alive - so I guess I am "older" as they describe. Not a lot I can do about that...
I am much more interested in the Z heritage than most, too, and my old Zs represented a lot more work than what I am doing now - mostly just driving a new car and letting the dealer/warranty cover it. I will eventually make the same kind of investment in the 350, but I have hundreds of hours in the old ones - time that I have not yet had to put into this one.
I will always stop to look at (or wave to, etc.) a well-cared-for older Z. I let the owners of two of my old Zs drive my 350, too.
So wave at me even if I am old!

Nonsense. I've owned a 280zx and a 300zx-t before owning the 350z. I bought the 350z because I've been a Z owner for about 1/2 of my 20 years of driving experience and because it's simply an awesome car for it's price. I know Z heritage and I didn't buy this car just because it happens to currently be the hottest car around.
Whenever a Z owner, any Z owner waves, honks or flashes lights, I ALWAYS reciprocate. That said, when we did the Latigo Canyon run, I made certain that all the Z33s were in the pic first before putting in the Z32s. I did that intentionally because our meet was for Z33 owners from this forum, after all this is MY350Z.com. I was very happy to see others join us and I did indicate that it was an open event. They jokingly gave me a hard time about it but they knew what was up - this was a 350z event.
On that note, this is the first time I've ever bothered to go to meets because of my car. I've never gone to a Z or Supra meet before. Probably because there is something very special about this Z and because the people on this forum I've found to be very cool. In fact, if after the first couple of meets I found the Z owners to be stuck up asses, I wouldn't have bothered to keep going to meets.
Now, there are a bunch of Z owners that don't come to these forums, maybe they're the folks who have thier heads up their butt however, from what I've seen from the So. Cal. 350z owners from this forum, we would all wave back and send back regards to any Z.

Ghostkilla,
I don't understand what you meant when you said on the other site: "Look at the 350 Z people, they go out and don't invite other Z owners." WTF? This is a public website obviously, and if you had wanted to come, you were invited.
Where in the invitation threads did you see "only 350z people allowed"? I have met several z32 owners and they are very cool. No, I have not owned any other Z's b/c I just started working 2 years ago and could not afford cars before then - it's not b/c I don't "appreciate the heritage of the Z."
Where is your resentment regarding this clubbing thing coming from? It's distinct from your resentment at 350z owners not waving back at you. Why, we aren't cool enuf 4 u b/c we wanted to hang out and talk to each other about other things besides our cars? "If we were purists, we would only talk, live, and breathe Z"? If you wanted to come so badly, why didn't you?

Iris,
I totally would have went! Even though im overweight i still would have gotten down!
I stopped at a red light around the time when the first 350z's were released. I tried to get a mans attention by saying nice z and waiving my hand, he rolled up the window and ignored me.
I never get looks from a person in a 350z. Dave was the only one i ever met up with. There were also a few get togethers up in the canyons and it was posted here too, and no 350z's came even though we all were lusting after them to show up. It ended up being a bunch of Z32's and older Z's, and we had a blast.
I guess its just the tools out there on the street who grab a car just because its new that make me feel like this......yeah im sure thats what it is.
There are certain people with older Z's who dont belong hanging out with the newer, more powerful, and better handling Z because they are going to get themselves killed (nick). But rest assured i can roll with you all in my 79. I do not own this car because it is the only thing i can afford and the only thing im able to pay insurance on. I own it because i am one of the few people who just enjoy the way it looks. I was in the market for a z32, and i believe i was gonna purchase DCZoner's friends ride.
While its understandable that the people who own the 350z feel like they are a part of all the z stuff, the others still really really feel distant from all of you. Like i said, its just gotta be the tools who get a new car just to have...a new car. Afterall, all z's are just cars in the end....and i dont know why im stressing over this.
Next meet come over to the other boards like zcar.com, got-z, z31.com, tt.net, etc etc and invite all the other z's....and make an acceptable attempt to get us all involved. It would be the coolest thing for all of us still rollin the older z's....you just dont even know.

I don't go to any other Z forums, 350z or otherwise because I believe this is the best 350z forum. If I ever start up a thread about an event, such as our upcoming Vegas run, I'll probably only post it here. It's not that I'm not inviting anyone else. In fact, if anyone asks, I'll always say it's an open event. All So. Cal. 350z events I've seen to date have been open and everyone has been welcome.
Just respond in our forum that you're coming and we'll be happy to see you there.
Dan
The whole thread is full of childish remarks... As with every car there are all kind of buyers, and that can be seen just by the ones here at My350Z. Just like some of us care about every TSB and some others out there don't even know what a TSB is.
I also thought that the price tag makes the % of owners of a certain pay bracket, but that only shows there are @ssholes and cool people at all pay levels.
I notice every single 350Z out there, always looking to meet other owners. I also notice every other Z because I always wanted one all my life, since the 240 was out.
It would seem to me that as the (Z31, Z32) cars get older, there are more of them in younger hands, since now you can get in one for under $2K. But that would be a generalization from my part as stupid as some of the ones made on the other thread.

I also don't go to any other Z forums, 350 or otherwise. I hardly have time to cruise the threads here, nevermind being on 2 or 3 other boards.
Personally, I did not buy this car because it's the new Z car, or because I wanted a new car. I bought this car because, in and of itself, it's an awesome car. I love the way it looks, I love the way it drives, regardless of being a "Z car". I like older Z cars, and I notice them a helluva lot more now that I own a Z, and I've taken the pains to research the older Z cars to understand the heritage, and where my car came from. I don't generally wave to the older Z's as proactively as I do to 350 Z's, unless I see a really nice looking one, but if I'm waved at by an older Z (or any other car owner. Vette drivers, porsche, mercedes have all waved or given thumbs up, and I give them right back) I'll definitely wave back, and I've had several stop light chats with Z32, and even 240 and 280 Z cars. Why does everyone have to politicize (is that a word?) things. Some people wave, and are happy to interact with other drivers, some aren't. No big deal. They probably aren't snubbing you intentionally or anything, maybe they're just not that outgoing. Keep to themselves.
Anyway, if you see me out, I'm happy to wave, flash, thumbs up, chat at a light, whatever. Don't generalize about people just cause a few Z owners may not have been all happy and extatic to see another Z.
And on a final note, I've been snubbed by more 350Z owners than any other Z owners on the roads. I was cruising around gardena on my way to the bicycle club, and a hard lookin mexican gansta dude was in a 240z next to me. We both looked at each other, and smiled and gave each other a nod. It varies from person to person, not car to car.

This is about people getting together and having a good time... it sucks that people don't acknowledge you on the streets, but why try to talk trash about our meets and link to our pictures... do we have to engrave a personal invitation for you and every other non-350z member for you to show up... if so, get over yourself.
I totally would have went! Even though im overweight i still would have gotten down!
Yeah....lets stir it up......
Ok I'll be the first to say it.
I REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE Z'S HISTORY SO MUCH... I JUST LOVE MY BEAUTIFUL 350Z, AND WANT TO MEET WITH 350Z'S TO CRUISE... NOT ALL THE OTHER Z'S.
THE NAME OF THIS SITE IS "MY350Z.COM"... ANY CONFUSIONS? WHY DO WE HAVE TO INVITE EVERYONE ELSE, JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL LEFT OUT? GO TO MEETS AND DRIVES WITH OTHER OLDER MODEL Z'S... WHY GET MAD AT US?
I don't think the S2000 owners get spammed on for NOT inviting all the civics and preludes of the world. They are an exclusive bunch, and so are we. Is that a crime? Yes the 280Z, 300ZX, etc are related to the 350Z... but the 350Z is a unique car.

Mastakilla,
My sentiments exactly! I go to other boards to see what is going on.
This board is great! How many times I have thought sh%t I missed a meet; that doesn't make me feel left out! I know there are more to come.
What more to be said I think you have made several valid and strong points.
