Default Hotchkis Stage 1 TVS Kit

I am getting the Hotchkiss Stage 1 installed tomorrow morning at Precision Z http://www.precisionz.com/home. I got the shop's info from the SoCal shops thread, they seem very nice. They pretty much quoted me around $380 to install the springs and another $80 to install the front and rear sways. Does that sound about right? Anyway, Ed seems nice and is even going to give me a military discount! Anybody else deal with them? I'll let everyone know how it goes, and of course, pictures.

$380 to install springs?? Thats too much. Maybe you meant $380 for the TVS kit and $80 to install? That sounds pretty good.

No, I got the TVS for $375 from BeerGoggles, who by the way is a cool dude. They quoted me $380, he said it's $380 because it's over the phone and when they see it and know exactly what they have to do, if the labor is cheaper then they would be happy to lower the price. What is a good price for installing springs?

Let me know how much you end up paying. I've had this god damn kit laying in my bedroom for 2+ months now waiting for me to find the time to take it to someone to install. I need to get it done this month though... along with spacer. Anyone else have any first hand expierience with any shops in LA/OC that can install this stuff for me.

$380.00 to install springs? Seems waaaayyyyy tooooo much to me. If you are in OC, check with Corner 3 in Lake Forest!

Just as a point of comparison, I had the TVS kit installed by Hotchkis. They charged $560 to do the sways, springs and an alignment.

I was quoted slightly lower prices by a couple of shops, but I wanted to give Hotchkis the business. Glad I did... they run a first class operation.

If you go with Precision Z, let us know how your experience was. I've never heard of them, and they're not too far from me.

$380 to install springs is a joke but if your happy with that price then go for it.

There are places that will do it for around $100 and it should take no longer then an hour to install.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not too sure what i'm going to do now. I called a couple shops on the SoCal shops list and one was $450 and the other was $250. I really wanted to get it done at a professional garage that is why I am going with a place like Precision Z. I pm'd Tim from WCN, hopefully I can get an answer by tonight, we'll see. Thanks again.

Go to the marketplace and check out the locals vendors wheel/suspension section of course and you will see how much lower they will do it for.

I don't know about an hour...but it's not $380 to do. Probably 2 hours @ $90/hr. Total should be around $200.

if you lived in San Diego, I'd do it for the cost of Lunch. lol. It only took me about 2 hrs, and I was by myself. Its SUPER easy. Especially the rear. That takes literally 10 minutes. The front is a little tougher....especially when you are by yourself.

I had my springs put on at Corner 3 Garage while I had some brake work done. I think they charged me like $170 for the spring install and I thought that was steep. But I trust them and they did do an A+ job so I'm ok with it.

Your quote seems much too high even if they haven't seen the car. Are they including an alignment or anything in addition to the install?

I have a rule. If I can't install it, it doesn't go on.

Alright guys. First, thanks to everyone for the replies, I just feel much more comfortable getting the work done at a shop, even if its more expensive than doing it myself.I went to Precision Z this morning. I can't say enough good things for the shop and Ed. They have a great garage and beyond great customer service. I got the sways and springs installed along with two dyno runs for $380! Ed is a great guy and the mechanics are great as well. I have pictures and vids I will have to post tomorrow, along with my whopping 225WHP dyno (i'm stock with a pop charger). The Hotchkis TVS is a great product, the Z handles like a champ and the springs feel much better than 03 stocks. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and update after they settle. All in all I had a great time at Precision Z and will definitely be back. I would recommend checking it out, they even have SR20's and some nice 300ZX's!

Good to know.

They should become a my350z sponsor (I'm assuming they're not, since I've never heard of them before this).

Enjoy the Hotchkis... it's a great setup.
