Default motorcycle insurance

So, it looks like alot of people on this forum also have a street bike as part of their "toys". I am thinking about getting one soon and was wondering how much people pay for their insurace. Is there a company that you would recommend?

while i do realize that different people will pay different amounts, i was just trying to see what people were paying and get a range (however wide that range may be). Also, i wanted to see which company people in southern california have used and have good experience with so that i can request a quote.

not sure why you are posting in the thread if you thought the question was useless but i guess you wouldnt have 7000+ posts if you didnt.....

lets just put it this way....
when i had 2 points on my license
my liability for a 91 gs 500 was $89/yr
same driving record for a 99 gixxer 600 was $370/yr.

it all depends on facts like car insurance. your age, driving record, type/size of bike (700cc+ counts as "large motorcycle, so insurance AND registration costs more), year of the bike, type of coverage, etc.
i've seen people pay as much as $1800 for full coverage on a gixxer 600.

but if you take the msf classes you get about 15% discount with some, if not all, insurance companies.
